Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates how two compounds, NiCR and NiCR-2H, interact differently with DNA and how this relates to their varying cytotoxic effects on MCF-7 cancer cells.
  • Both compounds were found to bind weakly to DNA, but NiCR-2H shows a stronger coordination with a specific part of the DNA molecule compared to NiCR.
  • Additionally, NiCR-2H is more efficient in oxidizing guanines in DNA than NiCR, and it can be formed from NiCR through oxidation when exposed to KHSO(5).

Purpose: There is mounting evidence demonstrating that stromal cell derived factor-1 (SDF-1) plays an important role in homing of hematopoietic progenitor cells to bone marrow. This study was aimed to assess whether bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells overexpressing exogenous SDF-1 could synergistically promote the homing of CD34(+) (Cluster of Differentiation [CD]) cells to bone marrow of lethally irradiated severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) mice.

Methods: Human SDF-1 complementary Deoxyribonucleic acid (cDNA) was transfected into bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells with recombinant lentiviral vector.

Enzyme-catalyzed polycondensation for the synthesis of block copolymers was reported for the first time. Thermoplastic block copolyesters containing poly[(R)-3-hydroxybutyrate] (PHB) and poly[(R)-3-hydroxyoctanoate] (PHO) blocks were enzymatically prepared by one- or two-step lipase-catalyzed polycondensation. Novozym 435-catalyzed reaction of PHB-diol (M(n) of 3100 g/mol, GPC), PHO-diol (M(n) of 3200 g/mol, GPC), and divinyl adipate gave block poly(HB-co-HO) (M(n) of 9800 g/mol, GPC) with randomly arranged blocks in 55% yield.

In this paper, we got the implementation of the electronic neuron based on the Morris-Lecar model, and use the circuit to analysis the bifurcation of the Morris-Lecor model. Based on the results of the bifurcation analysis, we get bursting neurons by introducing a slow driving current. Furthermore, based on the implementation of a single electronic neuron, the electronic neurons are coupled through inhibiting chemical synapses which is one of the most important connections.

In this paper, an integrated MEMS gyroscope array method composed of two levels of optimal filtering was designed to improve the accuracy of gyroscopes. In the firstlevel filtering, several identical gyroscopes were combined through Kalman filtering into a single effective device, whose performance could surpass that of any individual sensor. The key of the performance improving lies in the optimal estimation of the random noise sources such as rate random walk and angular random walk for compensating the measurement values.

Two oxyethylene/oxybutylene block copolymers (E(40)B(79) and E(47)B(62)), which exhibit body-centered cubic sphere (bcc) and hexagonally packed cylindrical (hex) melt morphologies in bulk, respectively, were blended with nanoclay of montmorillonite (MMT). The effects of MMT on the morphology and crystallization of E(40)B(79) and E(47)B(62) were studied with small-angle x-ray scattering, wide-angle x-ray diffraction, and differential scanning calorimeter. It is found that the E block in the block copolymers can intercalate into the galleries of MMT, leading to a larger layer spacing than that of neat MMT.
