Article Synopsis
  • A study developed new wound dressings called electrospun biomimetic nanofiber membranes to improve wound healing by addressing inflammation and infection issues.
  • These membranes mimic natural collagen fibers in skin and have favorable properties like biocompatibility, hydrophilicity, and sustained release of therapeutic compounds.
  • In tests, the membranes showed enhanced antioxidant activity, reduced harmful bacteria, decreased inflammation, and demonstrated effective healing in living organisms.

In this study, we developed punicalagin-loaded antimicrobial films based on soy protein isolate (SPI) and apple pectin (AP). The AP was derived from apple pomace waste while the punicalagin was obtained from pomegranate peel. Punicalagin was identified to exist in both α- and β-isomers, with the β-type being predominant.

Background: This study explored the expression and clinical significance of signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3), tumor necrosis factor α induced protein 8-like 2 (TIPE2), and runt-related transcription factor 1 (RUNX1) in breast cancer tissue.

Methods: From October 2014 to October 2017, 68 breast cancer patients (68 breast cancer tissue specimens) who underwent a radical mastectomy in our hospital were set as the observation group and the corresponding normal tissue 3 cm away from the cancer tissue was selected as the control group. The expression levels of STAT3, TIPE2, and RUNX1 in the two groups were compared via immunohistochemical staining.
