This brief is concerned with the problem of intelligent tracking control for a class of high-order nonlinear systems with completely unknown nonlinearities. An intelligent adaptive control algorithm is presented by combining the adaptive backstepping technique with the neural networks' approximation ability. It is shown that the practical output tracking performance of the system is achieved using the proposed state-feedback controller under two mild assumptions.

Background: Recently, the use of endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) for early gastric cancer (EGC) and the development of laparoscopic and endoscopic cooperative surgery (LECS) have enabled either the preservation of the stomach or the minimization of the extent of partial resection. ESD has recently been practiced on a differentiated type of EGC. However, there is no clear evidence for endoscopic treatments of undifferentiated EGC.

In this paper, tracking control problems are investigated for a class of uncertain nonlinear systems in lower triangular form. First, a state-feedback controller is designed by using adaptive backstepping technique and the universal approximation ability of fuzzy logic systems. During the design procedure, a developed method with less computation is proposed by constructing one maximum adaptive parameter.

As a high-quantum-efficiency photocatalyst, the serious photo-corrosion of silver phosphate (Ag3PO4), limits the practical applications in water purification and challenges us. Herein, Ag3PO4 is found to have a high stability under natural indoor weak light irradiation, suggesting that we can employ it by adopting a new application strategy. In our studies, rhodamine B (RhB, cationic dye), methyl orange (MO, anionic dye) and RhB-MO mixture aqueous solutions are used as the probing reaction for the degradation of organic wastewater.

In this paper, an adaptive neural output-feedback tracking controller is designed for a class of multiple-input and multiple-output nonstrict-feedback nonlinear systems with time delay. The system coefficient and uncertain functions of our considered systems are both unknown. By employing neural networks to approximate the unknown function entries, and constructing a new input-driven filter, a backstepping design method of tracking controller is developed for the systems under consideration.

Three types of copper sulfides including CuS, Cu7S4 and Cu9S5 were successfully synthesized at different concentrations of ethylenediamine in a liquid phase synthesis process. The whole shape evolution of Cu7S4 microstructures could be manipulated by adjusting the concentration of ethylenediamine. This study indicates that the coordination chemistry of ethylenediamine ligands and copper cations exerts vital effects on the formation of the dendritic structure.

Background: Critical thinking is an essential ability for medical students. However, the relationship between parental rearing styles and medical students' critical thinking disposition has rarely been considered. The aim of this study was to investigate whether parental rearing styles were significant predictors of critical thinking disposition among Chinese medical students.

Background: Few studies have examined the relationship between family functioning, social support and quality of life in patients with anxiety disorder. There is a paucity of research on anxiety disorders and their predictors in China.

Aims: This study aimed to explore family functioning, social support and quality of life for patients with anxiety disorder and examine the relationship between these elements.

Article Synopsis
  • - The prefrontal cortex is crucial for cognitive functions and is linked to schizophrenia symptoms, showing that dysfunction in this area relates closely to the disorder.
  • - Patients with schizophrenia often experience not just typical symptoms but also cognitive disorders, leading to the development of a monkey model to study these cognitive symptoms.
  • - Treatment with phencyclidine helps replicate these symptoms, but atypical antipsychotics like clozapine can improve cognitive impairments associated with schizophrenia.

Background: Aberrations in gene methylation patterns play important roles in gliomagenesis. However, whether the ALDH1A3 promoter methylation is related to prognoses of primary glioblastomas (GBMs) in Western China remains unclear.

Materials And Methods: Methylation levels of ALDH1A3 CpG island in 36 GBMs were identified by pyrophosphate sequencing, while ALDH1A3 expression was assessed with matched paraffin section immunohistochemistry.

Background: High somatic symptom severity (SSS) is associated with reduced health-related function and may affect doctor-patient interactions. This study aimed to explore the quality of the doctor-patient relationship (DPR) and its association with SSS in Chinese general hospitals outpatients.

Patients And Methods: This multicenter cross-sectional study assessed the quality of DPR from both the doctor's and patient's perspective in general outpatients (n=484) from 10 departments of Psychosomatic Medicine (PM), Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and Biomedicine (BM).

Laryngeal cancer is one of the most commonly occurring malignant cancers of the head and neck region. In the present study, we investigated the roles of miR-221 in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma cell line, Hep-2. We examined the function and mechanism of miR-221 in Hep-2 cells using techniques of cell biology and molecular pathology, such as western blotting, quantitative PCR, immunohistochemical staining and flow cytometry.

Background: Despite the high co-morbidity of depressive symptoms in patients with multiple somatic symptoms, the validity of the 9-item Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) has not yet been investigated in Chinese patients with multiple somatic symptoms.

Methods: The multicenter cross-sectional study was conducted in ten outpatient departments located in four cities in China. The psychometric properties of the PHQ-9 were examined by confirmative factor analysis (CFA).

Lipid droplets (LDs) are ubiquitous organelles that serve as a neutral lipid reservoir and a hub for lipid metabolism. Manipulating LD formation, evolution, and mobilization in oleaginous species may lead to the production of fatty acid-derived biofuels and chemicals. However, key factors regulating LD dynamics remain poorly characterized.

A kind of extended line defect is currently an experimentally available one-dimensional topological structure in graphene lattice. It modifies the electronic properties of graphene in many aspects. For example, it induces an even-parity boundary state which has linear dispersion and breaks the electron-hole symmetry of the graphene electronic structure.

Background: Liposarcomas, which represent 20% of all adult sarcomas, are the most common histological type of malignant soft tissue tumors. The aim of this study was to define the prognostic factors that predict the postoperative survival period for patients with primary retroperitoneal liposarcoma.

Methods: The clinical data and prognoses of 71 patients with primary retroperitoneal liposarcoma who were treated in the General Hospital of the People's Liberation Army of China between January 1, 2000 and December 31, 2007 were retrospectively reviewed and analyzed.

Early brain development is a complex and rapid process, the disturbance of which may cause the onset of brain disorders. Based on longitudinal imaging data acquired from 6 to 16 months postnatal, we describe a systematic trajectory of monkey brain development during late infancy, and demonstrate the influence of phencyclidine (PCP) on this trajectory. Although the general developmental trajectory of the monkey brain was close to that of the human brain, the development in monkeys was faster and regionally specific.

Retroperitoneal leiomyosarcomas (LMSs) are rare gynecological malignancies that display poor prognosis and high mortality. Cell cycle-related and expression-elevated protein in tumor (CREPT) is an oncogene that is involved in the regulation of many cell cycle-related proteins. However, its distribution and clinical significance in retroperitoneal LMS remains poorly understood.

This paper investigates the consensus problem of multiple Euler-Lagrange systems under directed topology. Unlike the common assumptions on continuous-time information exchanges, a more realistic sampled-data communication strategy is proposed with probabilistic occurrence of time-varying delays. Both of the sampling period and the delays are assumed to be time-varying, which is more general in some practical situations.

China's first mental health law, which went into effect last year, envisages a world in which psychotherapy is an integral part of all levels of medical care. There are many obstacles to achieving this goal. The new law empowers psychiatrists to provide psychotherapy but few of them have the time or inclination to do so because of the lower incomes generated by non-biological treatments.
