[PTCH2 gene alterations in keratocystic odontogenic tumors associated with nevoid basal cell carcinoma syndrome].

Objective: To investigate alterations in PTCH2 in keratocystic odontogenic tumors (KCOT) associated with nevoid basal cell carcinoma syndrome (NBCCS).

Methods: Genomic DNA was extracted from samples of frozen lesion tissues and peripheral blood of 15 NBCCS patients with multiple KCOTs. PTCH2 mutations were detected by PCR-direct sequencing.

[Electrochemical oxidation of ammonia nitrogen wastewater using Ti/RuO2-TiO2-IrO2-SnO2 electrode].

Electrochemical oxidation ammonia is a new method of ammonia nitrogen wastewater treatment. A study was undertaken of electrochemical oxidation ammonia wastewater in cycle mobil-electrobath. The anode was Ti/RuO2-TiO2-IrO2-SnO2 expanded metal sheet electrode.

[The application of flexirigid thoracoscopy in the diagnosis of pleural effusions with unknown aetiology].

Objective: To investigate the application of Flexirigid thoracoscopy in the diagnosis of pleural effusions with unknown aetiology.

Methods: Sixty patients (male 36, female 24) with pleural effusions of unknown aetiology, were examined with Flexirigid thoracoscopy from July 2005 to March 2007 in our hospital. Routine examinations of the pleural effusions, including biochemistry and cytology, as well as sputum cytology and bronchoscopy had failed to reach a definite diagnosis.

[Effects of radix salviae miltiorrhiae, radix aconiti lateralis preparata and rhizoma anemarrhena on nitric oxide systems of endotoxemia mice].

Objective: To investigate the effects of Radix Salviae Miltiorrhiae, Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata and Rhizoma Anemarrhena on nitric oxide (NO) system of heart, liver, intestine, lung, kidney and serum in mice with endotoxemia, and to explore the potential molecular mechanism of the three kinds of traditional Chinese drugs.

Methods: Model mice of endotoxemia were established by intraperitoneally injected with E. coli.

[Effects of Jianpi Huoxue Decoction on Kupffer cell signal pathway activation in rats with liver injury induced by Lieber-Decarli liquid diet and lipopolysaccharide].

Objective: To observe the effects of Jianpi Huoxue Decoction, a compound Chinese herbal medicine, on Kupffer cell signal pathway activation in rats with liver injury induced by Lieber-Decarli liquid diet and lipopolysaccharide (LPS).

Methods: SD rats were divided into normal, control liquid diet, ethanol liquid diet and ethanol liquid diet plus Jianpi Huoxue Decoction group. Rats were administrated with Jianpi Huoxue Decoction or distilled water via gastrogavage for 4 weeks after administration with ethanol or control liquid diet for 2 weeks respectively.

Reduced susceptibility to dextran sulphate sodium-induced colitis in the interleukin-2 heterozygous (IL-2) mouse.

Summary Mice homozygous for an inactivation of the interleukin-2 (IL-2) gene develop a T-cell dependent colitis. Heterozygous (IL-2+/-) mice are clinically healthy but have been shown to express reduced levels of IL-2 in the colon. Splenocytes from the IL-2+/- mice had a poorer proliferative response to polyclonal T-cell activation and these mice have reduced numbers of intestinal regulatory T cells (CD4+ CD25+ cells) when compared to wild type mice.
