Objective: To determine the association between daily particulate matter 2.5 (PM ) mass and emergency calls for help with respiratory diseases.

Methods: Semi-parametric generalized additive model was established to determine the association between daily PM and emergency calls for help with respiratory diseases in 2017 in Chengdu, after adjustments for time trend and variations in the days of the week and weather conditions.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to investigate the link between arsenic metabolism and DNA oxidative damage among workers in an arsenic mill in Yunnan province.
  • Researchers measured urinary levels of organic arsenic and DNA damage markers (8-hydroxydeoxyguanine) in 37 highly exposed workers, 16 with mild exposure, and 28 controls with no exposure.
  • Results indicated higher levels of both arsenic and DNA damage in exposed workers, particularly in females, suggesting that arsenic exposure causes significant oxidative damage to DNA.

Objective: To research on establishing a method that can detect the DNA lesion at the level of nucleic acid.

Methods: The TK6 cell was cultured and treated, the genomic DNA was extracted, and the strand cleavage was induced by the endonuclease Hinf I. Then the genomic DNA was amplified by randomized terminal linker-dependent PCR (RDPCR), and hybridized by Southern hybridization with the single-stranded probes of the exon 2 of k-ras gene.
