Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with long persistent luminescence (LPL) have attracted extensive research attention due to their potential applications in information encryption, anticounterfeiting technology, and security logic. The strategic combinations of organic phosphor linkers and metal ions lead to tremendous frameworks, which could unveil many undiscovered properties of organics. Here, the synthesis and characterization of a three-dimensional MOF (Cd-MOF) is reported, which demonstrates enhanced blue photoluminescence and a phosphorescent lifetime of 124 ms as compared to the pristine linker (HL) under ambient conditions due to the scaffolding and heavy-atom effects of metal chains in the framework.

In recent years, metal-organic framework (MOF) materials with long persistent luminescence (LPL) have inspired extensive attention and presented various applications in security systems, information anticounterfeiting, and biological imaging fields. However, obtaining LPL materials with ultralong lifetime remains challenging. Halogen atoms, as nonmetallic elements existing in the frameworks, can not only induce the heavy-atom effect, effectively enhancing spin-orbit coupling and promoting intersystem crossing (ISC) processes, but also suppress non-radiative transition of the triplet states through the intra- and intermolecular interactions.

Obesity is an increasingly concerning global health issue, which is accompanied by disruption of glucose and lipid metabolisms. The aim of this study was to uncover the potential and molecular actions of puerarin, a phytochemical, for alleviating metabolic dysfunctions of glucose and lipid metabolisms. A rat model fed a high fat and high fructose diet and a HepG2 cell model challenged with fructose combined with free fatty acid were utilized to identify the effects of puerarin on obesity-associated insulin resistance and hepatic steatosis.

Hydrogenotrophic methanogens had been considered as key species for the anaerobic digestion (AD) of industrial wastewater and municipal sludge. However, how to evaluate the activity of the hydrogenotrophic methanogens was less studied. In this study, a volumetric device and a test procedure were developed for measuring the specific hydrogen utilization rate (HUR) of anaerobic sludge.

With the intensive application of sulfonamides in aquaculture and animal husbandry and the increase of sulfonamides discharged into the environments, there is an increasing need to find a way to remediate sulfonamide-contaminated environments. Two bacterial strains capable of degrading sulfonamides, HS21 and HS51, were isolated from marine environments. HS21 and HS51 were identified as members of Escherichia sp.

Substrate utilization in a glucose-fed anaerobic sequencing batch reactor (ASBR) under different F/M ratios was investigated. Glucose added was quickly taken up by fermentation bacterial in anaerobic digestion, then partly degraded directly to volatile fatty acid (VFA, accounted for 34%-38% of COD-fed) and partly accumulated transiently in the cell as glycogen (accounted for 41%-46% of COD-fed) and degraded to VFA in the following. The bacterial accumulation capacities increased with F/M.
