The cis hydroxyl group in GG and the hydroxyl group of UH form dynamic covalent borate ester bonds with borate ions in the borax solution, and use their responsiveness to pH to control the catechol group to achieve controllable adhesion. UH and Fe endowed the hydrogel with excellent antibacterial ability, while adding Col enhanced the mechanical properties of the hydrogel.
