Accidental ingestion of lead (Pb)-contaminated soils represents a major route of Pb exposure for both adults and children, and the development of accessible and cost-effective solutions to reduce Pb poisoning is urgently required. Here, we present an effective and straightforward technique, involving the consumption of cola beverages, for the purpose of lowering blood Pb levels following the ingestion of contaminated soils in animal models. This method facilitated the direct passage of Pb in contaminated soil through the digestive system, enhancing its elimination without absorption into systemic circulation.

This study aimed to investigate the protective effect of a novel capsaicinoid glucoside (CG) against HO-induced oxidative stress in HepG2 cells and elucidate its underlying molecular mechanism. CG treatment significantly reduced HO-induced cell mortality and attenuated the production of lactate dehydrogenase and malondialdehyde in a dose-dependent manner. Moreover, CG drastically reduced the ROS levels 18.

Microplastic (MP) contamination in soil has been of great concern, but the dynamic aging process and potential pathways of MPs in natural soil systems remain poorly understood. Herein, poly(vinyl chloride) microplastics (5% w/w) were weathered for 12 months in sandy soil, silty clay, and silt loam. The results showed that the continuous increase of C═O and O-H groups (rate constant, = 0.

During biological remediation of groundwater, arsenic potentially intervenes microbial behaviors. This study found an opposite interference of arsenic in its two different valences (III and V) on the degradation of TCP by the functional bacteria, Sphingomonas fennica K101.

Many pioneering works have been dedicated to expanding the experimental state space and the complexity of graphs. However, these experiments are mostly limited to small experimental scale, which do not reach a many-body level and fail to reflect the multi-particle quantum interference effects among non-adjacent modes.

DIA-based proteomic analysis was performed to identify DEPs in GCs between the P and NP samples.

However, the mechanisms of transformation of various soil As species during ZVI/BC amendments remain unclear. This study investigated As transformation in four soils (namely, GX, ZJ, HB, and HN) treated with ZVI/BC for 65 days under two soil moisture conditions, unsaturated and oversaturated.

Herein, based on Maillard reaction and immobilization, a feather keratin fibrous adsorbent featuring dual-response shape-memory is fabricated by co-spinning with pullulan, heating, and air-assisted spraying ZIF-8-NH. Maillard reaction between the amino group of keratin and the carbonyl group of pullulan improves the mechanics and thermal performance of the adsorbent.

While their negative effects on parental organisms have been extensively studied, intergenerational effects are still in the early stages of investigation. Here, we aimed to investigate the impact of maternal exposure to an environmentally relevant level of polystyrene NPs (PSNPs, 100 nm) during gestation and lactation (∼32 days, 50 μg/mouse/day) on neurotoxicity mediated by the microbe-gut-brain axis in offspring mice.

The molecular weight of MPP, DMPP-40, DMPP-60, DMPP-80 were determined to be 336.83 ± 10.

The results revealed that the initial YAN containing a larger proportion of diammonium phosphate resulted in a higher YAN consumption rate during the early stages of fermentation. The yeast strain had a greater effect on the volatiles than the YAN level and composition.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a common type of tumor worldwide. The development of systemic treatment of advanced HCC has remained stagnant for a considerable period. During the last years, a series of new treatment regimens based on the combination of immunotherapeutic drugs and targeted drugs have been gradually developed, increased the objective response rate (ORR), overall survival (OS), and progression free survival (PFS) of HCC patients.

However, our understanding of their foliar uptake, translocation, and trophic transfer profiles is limited due to a lack of quantitative analytical tools to effectively probe mechanisms of action. Here, using synthesized deuterium (H) stable isotope-labeled polystyrene nanoplastics (H-PSNPs), the foliar accumulation and translocation of NPs in lettuce and the dynamics of NP transfer along a lettuce-snail terrestrial food chain were investigated.

Postmenopausal osteoporosis (PMOP) is a major health problem affecting millions of women worldwide. PMOP patients are often accompanied by abnormal accumulation of bone marrow adipose tissue (BMAT). Herein, we investigated the release behavior of arsenic (As) in coastal aquifers during MPs-containing seawater intrusion by applying laboratory experiment and numerical simulation. We found that seawater with marine MPs enhanced the release of As in aquifers, especially for dissolved As(V) and colloidal As.
