Pure invasive apocrine carcinoma is a rare type of primary breast cancer, constituting ~1% of all breast cancers. Since most pure invasive apocrine carcinomas are triple negative, the lack of targeted therapies for triple-negative breast cancer has fostered efforts to discover actionable molecular targets in these tumors. In this study, we analyzed the clinicopathologic characteristics and comprehensive genomic profiling of 18 patients with pure triple-negative apocrine carcinomas (TNACs) using a 324-gene panel assay (FoundationOne CDx).

Background: Molecular subtyping of triple-negative breast cancers (TNBCs) via gene expression profiling is essential for understanding the molecular essence of this heterogeneous disease and for guiding individualized treatment. We aim to devise a clinically practical method based on immunohistochemistry (IHC) for the molecular subtyping of TNBCs.

Materials And Methods: By analyzing the RNA sequencing data on TNBCs from Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center (FUSCC) (n = 360) and The Cancer Genome Atlas data set (n = 158), we determined markers that can identify specific molecular subtypes.

Styryllactones, a class of compounds obtained from the genus (Annonaceae), have demonstrated antitumor activity. However, the aqueous solubility of these compounds is poor. In this study, we identified the absolute configurations of the previously isolated compounds, which were first isolated in our laboratory, by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis using Cu Kα radiation.

The effect of nano grain surface layer generated by ultrasonic impact on the fatigue behaviors of a titanium alloy Ti3Zr2Sn3Mo25Nb (TLM) was investigated. Three vibration strike-numbers of 24,000 times, 36,000 times and 48,000 times per unit are chosen to treat the surface of TLM specimens. Nanocrystals with an average size of 30 nm are generated.

As large-scale planting of genetically modified (GM) crops increases, the development of a rapid and convenient method for on-site detection of GM crops is important. We combined the advantages of recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA) and fluorescence detection to establish a rapid, sensitive, specific, and simple detection platform for on-site detection of MON863 maize. Test samples were added directly to the platform after simple pre-treatment with a DNA extraction-free method.

Background: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is associated with adverse outcomes and neonatal complications. Its prevalence has been rapidly increasing over the last decade; it is estimated that one in six pregnant women are diagnosed with GDM. Thus, an effective management approach is necessary for women with GDM.

With the large-scale planting of genetically modified (GM) crops, the development of a rapid and convenient method for on-site monitoring GM crops is needed. In this study, a duplex recombinase polymerase amplification (DRPA)-based, quick and simple detection system is presented for on-site detection of GM crops. In this system, a rapid DNA extraction method, a DRPA, and a lateral flow biosensor (LFB) are integrated to allow for rapid DNA extraction and amplification, and fast visualization of the detection results.

Background And Objective: Compared with tissue biopsy, liquid biopsy is the most preferable non-invasive promising method in personalized medicine, although it has many limitations in isolating circulating tumor cells (CTC). Lung cancer associated mortality is drastically increased due to a shortfall of early-stage detection, which remains a challenge. Herein, we aimed to detect lung cancer at an early-stage using CellCollector device.

Invasive micropapillary carcinoma is characterized by the inside-out growth of tumor clusters and displays incomplete membrane immunostaining of HER2. According to the 2018 American Society of Clinical Oncology and the College of American Pathologists (ASCO/CAP) HER2-testing recommendation, moderate to intense but incomplete staining could be scored as immunohistochemical 2+. Furthermore, the criteria of immunohistochemical 3+ for this staining pattern are not mentioned.

Beta 3 (β3) integrin plays an important role in the initiation of myogenesis in adult muscle. Protein disulfide isomerases (PDIs) can activate β3 integrin in various cells to promote cell migration, adhesion and fusion. However, the effect of PDIs on myogenesis during muscle regeneration has not been elucidated.

Cell division cycle 37 (Cdc37) is known to work as a kinase-specific cochaperone, which selectively regulates the maturation of kinases through protein-protein interaction (PPI) with Hsp90. Directly disrupting the Hsp90-Cdc37 PPI is emerging as an alternative strategy to develop anticancer agents through a specific inhibition manner of kinase clients of Hsp90. Based on a first specific small-molecule inhibitor targeting Hsp90-Cdc37 PPI (), which was previously reported by our group, we conducted a preliminary investigation of the structure-activity relationships and pharmacodynamic evaluations to improve the potency and drug-like properties.

We aimed to investigate the regulatory mechanism of lentivirus-mediated overexpression of cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) in oxidative stress injury and inflammatory response in the lung tissue of mouse model of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). COPD mouse model induced by cigarette smoke was established and normal mice were used as control. The mice were assigned into a normal group (control), a model group (untreated), an oe-CFTR group (injection of lentivirus overexpressing CFTR), and an oe-NC group (negative control, injection of lentivirus expressing irrelevant sequences).

pH is a critical parameter used to specify the acidity or alkalinity of an aqueous solution in chemistry, food processing, and medical care. In this study, a conductimetric-type micro pH sensor has been achieved using PANI membrane fabricated on a flexible substrate film aiming to monitor wound healing. The sensor is based on the incorporation of a polyaniline (PANI) membrane, interdigital electrode, and polyimide (PI) substrate.

Stimulator of interferon genes (STING) is an adaptor protein that induces the secretion of type I interferons and proinflammatory cytokines and is triggered by cytosolic DNA of pathogen and host origins. Given that STING is a mediator in the immune system, pharmacological modulation of STING has shown viable therapeutic effects for pathogen infection, cancer, and inflammatory diseases. In the past decade, the substantial development in this field has encouraged the discovery of STING modulators.

Article Synopsis
  • This study examined the nutrient intakes of tuberculosis (TB) patients in two impoverished counties in China, revealing significant deficiencies in energy and protein intake compared to dietary guidelines.
  • The average daily energy intake for male and female patients was notably below the recommended levels, with 87.4% of males and 59.9% of females failing to meet these standards.
  • Factors such as unemployment increased the risk of low energy intake, while eating out was associated with better protein intake among these patients, indicating a need for targeted public health interventions.

Hsp90 is one of the most important chaperones involved in regulating the maturation of more than 300 client proteins, many of which are closely associated with refractory diseases, including cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, and viral infections. Clinical Hsp90 inhibitors bind to the ATP pocket in the N-terminal domain of Hsp90 and subsequently suppress the ATPase activity of Hsp90. Recently, with the increased understanding of the discrepancies in the isoforms of Hsp90 and the modes of Hsp90-co-chaperone-client complex interactions, some new strategies for Hsp90 inhibition have emerged.
