Article Synopsis
  • The GRAS gene family consists of plant-specific transcription factors crucial for processes like signal transduction, disease resistance, and stress tolerance; however, their functions in Eucalyptus grandis were previously unknown.
  • A total of 82 GRAS genes were discovered, mostly with one exon, and categorized into 9 subfamilies, with evidence of expansion via segmental duplication; these genes are likely involved in hormone signaling, growth, and stress responses.
  • The study identified key genes (EgrGRAS13, EgrGRAS68, and EgrGRAS55) that showed significant responses to hormones and stresses, suggesting these EgrGRAS genes are vital for stress tolerance in Eucalyptus grandis.

This study investigates the diurnal variation of ozone (O) in the Pearl River Delta (PRD) during autumn from 2016 to 2021, focusing on the main O modes and their relationship with meteorological conditions. Utilizing K-means clustering, four patterns of O variation were identified: Cluster 1 (extremely low O), Cluster 2 (close to autumn average), Cluster 3 (abnormally high O at night), and Cluster 4 (extremely high O). In Cluster 1, the PRD was situated on the northwest side of the western Pacific subtropical high (WPSH), resulting in increased cloud cover, weakened radiation, and the lowest O growth rate during the day, with weak nighttime changes.
