A concise asymmetric total synthesis of (-)-quinocarcin has been accomplished with high step economy from commercially available starting materials. A catalytic enantioselective reductive 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction of N-heteroaryl secondary amides with reactive dipolarophiles using iridium/copper relay catalysis was developed to prepare the key chiral pyrrolidine intermediate with three stereocenters. This protocol features excellent regio-, exo- and enantioselectivities, broad substrate scope, and good functional group tolerance.

The design of white-light phosphor is highly desirable for practical applications in SSL (solid-state lighting) and its related fields. Dye-loaded metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have been widely demonstrated as one type of promising down conversion materials for WLEDs (white-light-emitting diodes), but two issues (dye leakage and inadequate quantum efficiency) require to be addressed before possible applications. Here, a series of single-phase dyes@In-MOF phosphors have been prepared in two different ways: the in-situ process and soaking method.

Veterinary antibiotics in swine wastewater has drawn great public attention. The removal processes of sulfamethizole (SMZ), enrofloxacin (ENR) and chlortetracycline (CTC) were investigated in the high-rate anaerobic process. The continuous experiments demonstrated that in 3 L working volume and with the organic loading rate 5 kg/(m·d) rised to 20 kg/(m·d), the average removal efficiencies of the high-rate anaerobic bioreactor for SMZ, ENR and CTC were 0, 54 and 100%, respectively.

Objective: To investigate the molecular mechanism of high phosphorylation levels of cofilin-1 (p-CFL-1) associated with paclitaxel resistance in epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) cells.

Methods: Cells displaying varying levels of p-CFL-1 and CFL-1 were created by plasmid transfection and shRNA interference. Cell inhibition rate indicating paclitaxel efficacy was assessed by Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) assay.

The built-in electric field generated by polar materials is one of the most effective strategies to promote the separation of photogenerated electron-hole pairs in the field of photocatalysis. However, because of the complexity and diversity of the built-in electric field in polar materials, it is not clear how to enhance the photocatalytic performance and how to control the polar electric field effectively. To this end, four-layered bismuth oxyhalides, BiOX, and BiOXO (X = Br, I) were synthesized by a simple hydrothermal method.

Article Synopsis
  • - Inthomycins are a type of antibiotic derived from a bacteria called Streptomyces pactum L8, characterized by their unique chemical structure featuring a carboxamide group and a triene chain.
  • - The study focused on isolating Inthomycin B and two new related compounds, along with identifying the gene cluster responsible for their biosynthesis.
  • - A proposed formation mechanism for the carboxamide part of inthomycins suggests that a specific gene deletion in the biosynthesis process triggered an oxidative release that helps develop this chemical group.

Internal polarized electric field is found to be an effective and available strategy to separate photogenerated electron-hole pairs. By this method, the efficiency of photocatalytic reactions can be obviously enhanced. Here, the layered compound of BiOIO with spontaneous polarization was synthesized by a simple hydrothermal method.

Aiming at the problem of multiple-source direction of arrival (DOA) tracking in impulse noise, this paper models the impulse noise by using the symmetric stable (SS) distribution, and proposes a DOA tracking algorithm based on the Unscented Transform Multi-target Multi-Bernoulli (UT-MeMBer) filter framework. In order to overcome the problem of particle decay in particle filtering, UT is adopted to select a group of sigma points with different weights to make them close to the posterior probability density of the state. Since the stable distribution does not have finite covariance, the Fractional Lower Order Moment (FLOM) matrix of the received array data is employed to replace the covariance matrix to formulate a MUSIC spatial spectra in the MeMBer filter.

Sagittal fracture at the temporal root of the zygomatic arch often occurs as a part of zygomaticomaxillary fractures. The authors described the application of computer-assisted navigation in the lag screw insertion for the fixation of sagittal fracture at the temporal root of zygomatic arch. Using the presurgical planning of the computer-assisted navigation system, the trajectory of lag screw insertion was designed, and the insertion depth was calculated.
