The sustainable and scalable fabrication of low-cost, efficient, and durable electrocatalysts that operate well at industrial-level current density is urgently needed for large-scale implementation of the water splitting to produce hydrogen. In this work, an integrated carbon electrode is constructed by encapsulating Ni nanoparticles within N-doped carbonized wood framework (Ni@NCW). The severe pretreatment of poplar makes xylan difficult to utilize efficiently. In this work, poplar was pretreated by hydrogen peroxide-acetic acid (HPAC) with HSO as catalyst to remove lignin, and the solid residues were used to produce xylooligosaccharides (XOS) and monosaccharides by two-step xylanase and cellulase hydrolysis. The results indicated that higher HSO concentrations in the HPAC pretreatment of poplar afforded stronger lignin removal ability.

Impact of lignin content on alkaline-sulfite pretreatment of Hybrid Pennisetum.

This work focuses to investigate the impact of lignin content on chemical compositions, crystallinity, surface characterizations, cellulase adsorption profiles and hydrolysability of Hybrid Pennisetum (HP) after alkaline sulfite pretreatment (ASP). For the HP with lower lignin content, the increase of the cellulose content by ASP was more obvious than raw HP. ASP decreased total lignin content and surface lignin content of HP substrates.
