1,1,1-Trichloroethane (1,1,1-TCA) and chloroform (CF) are persistent groundwater contaminants because of their widespread industrial use as organic solvents and improper disposal in the past. Obligate organohalide-respiring bacteria (OHRB), such as (), play crucial roles in biotransforming and detoxifying natural or anthropogenic halogenated organics including 1,1,1-TCA and CF through reductive dechlorination. Despite their significance, only five strains have been associated with the reductive dechlorination of 1,1,1-TCA or CF.

Case Presentation: We report a 13-year-old Chinese boy who presented with fever, cough, and enlarged cervical lymph nodes.
Objective: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients have an increased risk of developing herpes zoster (HZ) compared to the general population. We aimed to measure health care utilization (HCU) and related costs of HZ from the public payer's perspective among RA patients.
Methods: Adult RA patients diagnosed with HZ between 2008 and 2020 were matched (sex, age, and HZ date) to: 1) RA patients without HZ, 2) non-RA population with HZ, and 3) non-RA population without HZ.
Members of Dehalococcoides mccartyi (Dhc) are strictly anaerobic and play crucial roles in the restoration of many industrial sites impacted by chlorinated solvents, such as tetrachloroethene (PCE) and trichloroethene (TCE). In situ bioremediation with Dhc involves intricate procedures intended to minimize oxygen intrusion, and achieving optimal dechlorination performance in aquifers near the dense non-aqueous phase liquids source zone is challenging. Here, we respectively embedded Dhc strain 195 and the biomass of a Dhc-containing, PCE-dechlorinating consortium in poly(vinyl alcohol)-alginate hydrogel beads.

However, current drug detection methods, which rely on complex instruments, have limited applicability and often neglect the influence of pH fluctuations, leading to potential bias and unreliable results. Herein, we propose co-calibration DNA probes on a nanoconfined biosensor (NB), covering the range of sweat pH 3-8 to achieve significantly enhanced target signal recognition.

This study aimed to identify risk factors and develop a predictive model for PALN metastasis based on the pathological diagnosis via surgical staging to determine the patient-population suitable for extended-field irradiation (EFRT) and clarify the prognosis of patients with LACC. Five parameters were identified as predictors by logistic regression analysis.

However, there are few studies reporting the VRC plasma concentration in patients with talaromycosis. The purpose of this study was to analyze the correlations between VRC initial steady-state trough concentration and clinical outcomes.

While prophylactic vaccination programs have led to substantial reductions in both HPV infection rates and cervical cancer incidence, considerable burdens of HPV-related diseases persist, particularly in developing countries with inadequate vaccine coverage and uptake. The development of therapeutic vaccines for HPV represents an emerging strategy that has the potential to bolster the fight against cervical cancer.

But the prognostic role of exoPD-L1 in cancer patients is inconsistent across previous studies. Therefore, a quantitative meta-analysis was performed to evaluate the prognostic and clinicopathological value of exoPD-L1 in cancer patients.

Organohalide-respiring bacteria (OHRB) play a pivotal role in the transformation of organohalogens in diverse environments. This bibliometric analysis provides a timely overview of OHRB research trends and identifies knowledge gaps. Publication numbers have steadily increased since the process was discovered in 1982, with fluctuations in total citations and average citations per publication.

Organohalide-respiring bacteria (OHRB) have been found in various environments and play an indispensable role in the biogeochemical cycling and detoxification of halogenated organic compounds (HOCs). Currently, few ORHB have been reported to perform reductive dechlorination under high salinity conditions, indicating a knowledge gap on the diversity of OHRB and the survival strategy of OHRB in saline environments (e.g.

The modulation of gut microbiota through probiotics holds promise as a novel avenue for schizophrenia treatment. This study aims to analyze probiotic complementary therapy on individuals with schizophrenia systematically, to investigate probiotic efficacy, potential mechanisms, and implications for clinical practice. Adhering to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, we searched in Medline, Web of Science, Embase, ClinicalTrials.

However, addressing the cardiotoxicity and other toxic side effects associated with anthracyclines has proven challenging.
Methods: In this study, we loaded doxorubicin (Dox) into Exos derived from human placental mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and modified them with carboxylated FeO nanoparticles (NPs) to create an Exo-Dox-NP delivery system.
Background: The relationship between social determinants of health (SDH) and disease outcomes in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is not well documented.
Methods: Data were extracted from the Ontario Best Practices Research Initiative (OBRI) registry for patients between January 2008 and April 2022. Adjusted mixed models analysis was used to investigate the effect of baseline SDH on disease activity (Clinical Disease Activity Index (CDAI)) and functional disability (Health Assessment Questionnaire-Disability Index (HAQ-DI)) 12 months after enrollment.

Background: Several observational cohort studies have been conducted to investigate the effectiveness and safety of direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) compared with vitamin K antagonists (VKAs) in patients who have both atrial fibrillation (AF) and cancer. Herein, we conducted a -analysis to present a comprehensive overview of the real-world evidence on DOACs in patients with AF and cancer.
Methods: A comprehensive search strategy was performed in PubMed and Embase until February 2024 for studies that enrolled AF patients with cancer who received DOACs or VKAs.

Background: Carbon monoxide (CO), hypothetically linked to prebiotic biosynthesis and possibly the origin of the life, emerges as a substantive growth substrate for numerous microorganisms. In anoxic environments, the coupling of CO oxidation with hydrogen (H) production is an essential source of electrons, which can subsequently be utilized by hydrogenotrophic bacteria (e.g.

Aquatic ecosystems represent a prominent reservoir of xenobiotic compounds, including triclosan (TCS), a broad-spectrum biocide extensively used in pharmaceuticals and personal care products. As a biogeochemical hotspot, the potential of aquatic sediments for the degradation of TCS remains largely unexplored. Here, we demonstrated anaerobic biotransformation of TCS in a batch microcosm established with freshwater sediment.
