Urine-derived stem cells (USCs) are derived from urine and harbor the potential of proliferation and multidirectional differentiation. Moreover, USCs could be reprogrammed into pluripotent stem cells [namely urine-derived induced pluripotent stem cells (UiPSCs)] through transcription factors, such as octamer binding transcription factor 4, sex determining region Y-box 2, kruppel-like factor 4, myelocytomatosis oncogene, and Nanog homeobox and protein lin-28, in which the first four are known as Yamanaka factors. Mounting evidence supports that USCs and UiPSCs possess high potential of neurogenic, myogenic, and osteogenic differentiation, indicating that they may play a crucial role in the treatment of neurological and musculoskeletal diseases.

A total of 206 patients with primary liver cancer admitted to the hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery department of a tertiary hospital from October 2020 to June 2021 were included. The Herth Hope Index was utilized to assess hope levels, and based on the questionnaire results, the patients were categorized into low-hope (≤ 30 points) and high-hope (> 30 points) groups.

The abnormal initiation of autophagy flux in neurons after ischemic stroke caused dysfunction of autophagy-lysosome, which not only led to autophagy flux blockage, but also resulted in autophagic death of neurons. However, the pathological mechanism of neuronal autophagy-lysosome dysfunction did not form a unified viewpoint until now. In this review, taking the autophagy lysosomal dysfunction of neurons as a starting point, we summarized the molecular mechanisms that led to neuronal autophagy lysosomal dysfunction after ischemic stroke, which would provide theoretical basis for the clinical treatment of ischemic stroke.

To allay excessive public concern about the safety of transgenic foods, and to optimize insect-resistant genes expression to delay the evolution of resistance in pests, we developed a promising strategy to fuse the GOI (gene of interest) with (rice small subunit of ribulose bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase) in transgenic rice, which acted as a carrier, driven by the native promoter to sequester its expression in green tissues. Using as a trial, we reported a high-level accumulation of eYFP in green tissue and almost none in the seed and root of the fused construct compared to the non-fused construct. After applying this fusion strategy in insect-resistant rice breeding, recombinant - expressed rice plants conferred high resistance to leaffolders and striped stem borers, among which two single-copy lines possessed normal agronomic performance in the field.

The pathogenic bacterial genus Xanthomonas infects a wide variety of host plants and causes devastating diseases in many crops. Transcription activator-like effectors (TALEs) are important virulence factors secreted by Xanthomonas with the ability to directly bind to the promoters of target genes in plant hosts and activate their expression, which often facilitates the proliferation of pathogens.
