Background: Lipomas represent a rare benign etiology of intussusception in adults, affecting both the small intestine and the colon. Diagnosing intussusception in adults can be challenging, and there are no reports on the use of positron emission tomography/CT (PET/CT) in the diagnosis of lipoma-induced intussusception. This study aimed to preliminarily explore the potential diagnostic utility of 18F-FDG PET/CT in the diagnosis of intussusception caused by lipomas.

Cassava ( Crantz) is used as a biomass energy material and an effective supplement for food and feed. Cinnamyl alcohol dehydrogenase (CAD) catalyzes the final step of lignin biosynthesis and is responsible for various stresses. However, systematic investigations of the gene family in cassava have been poorly understood.

Pulmonary enteric adenocarcinoma (PEAC), an uncommon variant of lung cancer, presents significant diagnostic challenges due to its overlapping characteristics with colorectal adenocarcinomas. We present a case of a 55-year-old non-smoking female patient diagnosed with PEAC. The patient's initial symptoms included fever, cough, and sputum production, with air space consolidation on CT, leading to an initial diagnosis of pneumonia.

Introduction: Angiomatoid fibrous histiocytoma (AFH) is a borderline tumor usually affecting the the children or young adults. 18F-Fluorodexoyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) investigations of pulmonary AFH are rare, and there are currently no reports of intense FDG uptake in AFH.

Case Report: We report an AFH that occurred in the lung of a 57-year-old woman.

Background: This analysis aimed to explore the analgesic effects of quadratus lumborum block on acute and chronic postoperative pain among patients undergoing cesarean section.

Methods: PubMed, Cochrane, Embase, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang, and VIP databases for Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) that focused on the use of quadratus lumborum block in cesarean section procedures were searched from the inception of the databases until December 2022. Studies were screened based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, and were then conducted for quality assessment and data extraction.

The 14-3-3 protein family is a highly conservative member of the acid protein family and plays an important role in regulating a series of important biological activities and various signal transduction pathways. The role of 14-3-3 proteins in regulating starch accumulation still remains largely unknown. To investigate the properties of 14-3-3 proteins, the structures and functions involved in starch accumulation in storage roots were analyzed, and consequently, 16 genes were identified.

Cassava ( Crantz) leaves are often used as vegetables in Africa. Anthocyanins possess antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, and other biological activities. They are poor in green leaves but rich in the purple leaves of cassava.

Background: Magnesium chelatase plays an important role in photosynthesis, but only a few subunits have been functionally characterized in cassava.

Results: Herein, MeChlD was successfully cloned and characterized. MeChlD encodes a magnesium chelatase subunit D, which has ATPase and vWA conservative domains.

As a starchy and edible tropical plant, cassava ( Crantz) has been widely used as an industrial raw material and a dietary source. However, the metabolomic and genetic differences in specific germplasms of cassava storage root were unclear. In this study, two specific germplasms, Crantz cv.

The basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) proteins are a large superfamily of transcription factors, and play a central role in a wide range of metabolic, physiological, and developmental processes in higher organisms. However, systematic investigation of gene family in cassava ( Crantz) has not been reported. In the present study, we performed a genome-wide survey and identified 148 s genes were unevenly harbored in 18 chromosomes.

Tanshinones are health-promoting diterpenoids found in Salvia miltiorrhiza and have wide applications. Here, SmGGPPS (geranylgeranyl diphosphate synthase) and SmDXSII (1-deoxy-D-xylulose-5-phosphate synthase) were introduced into hairy roots of S. miltiorrhiza.

Tanshinone is widely used for treatment of cardio-cerebrovascular diseases with increasing demand. Herein, key enzyme genes SmHMGR (3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl CoA reductase) and SmDXR (1-deoxy-D-xylulose 5-phosphate reductoisomerase) involved in the tanshinone biosynthetic pathway were introduced into Salvia miltiorrhiza (Sm) hairy roots to enhance tanshinone production. Over-expression of SmHMGR or SmDXR in hairy root lines can significantly enhance the yield of tanshinone.

Tropane alkaloids (TA) including hyoscyamine, anisodamine, scopolamine and anisodine, are used medicinally as anticholinergic agents with increasing market demand, so it is very important to improve TA production by metabolic engineering strategy. Here, we report the simultaneous introduction of genes encoding the branch-controlling enzyme tropinone reductase I (TRI, EU424321) and the downstream rate-limiting enzyme hyoscyamine-6β-hydroxylase (H6H, EF187826) involved in TA biosynthesis into Anisodus acutangulus hairy roots by Agrobacterium-mediated gene transfer technology. Transgenic hairy root lines expressing both TRI and H6H (TH lines) produced significantly higher (P < 0.

The four tropane alkaloids have played a pivotal role in controlling diseases such as the toxic and septic shock, the organophosphorus poison and the acute lung injury. Here, the elicitation effect of different elicitors on the production of tropane alkaloids and the molecular mechanism of enzyme genes in the pathway was firstly demonstrated in hairy roots of Anisodus acutangulus. The results showed ethanol, methyl jasmonate and Ag(+) could improve the accumulation of tropane alkaloids up to 1.

Background: Tropane alkaloids (TA) including anisodamine, anisodine, hyoscyamine and scopolamine are a group of important anticholinergic drugs with rapidly increasing market demand, so it is significant to improve TA production by biotechnological approaches. Putrescine N-methyltransferase (PMT) was considered as the first rate-limiting upstream enzyme while tropinone reductase I (TRI) was an important branch-controlling enzyme involved in TA biosynthesis. However, there is no report on simultaneous introduction of PMT and TRI genes into any TA-producing plant including Anisodus acutangulus (A.

Tanshinone is a group of active diterpenes widely used in treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Here, we report the introduction of genes encoding 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl CoA reductase (HMGR), 1-deoxy-D-xylulose-5-phosphate synthase (DXS) and geranylgeranyl diphosphate synthase (GGPPS) involved in tanshinone biosynthesis into Salvia miltiorrhiza hairy roots by Agrobacterium-mediated gene transfer technology. Overexpression of SmGGPPS and/or SmHMGR as well as SmDXS in transgenic hairy root lines can significantly enhance the production of tanshinone to levels higher than that of the control (P<0.
