Objective: The relationship between tinnitus in the elderly with hearing loss remains elusive. This study aimed to reveal the association between tinnitus and hearing impairment among older adults with age-related hearing loss (ARHL).
Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted among a population of outpatients diagnosed with ARHL at four medical centers in different regions of China, from June 2020 to June 2023.
Decoding speech envelopes from electroencephalogram (EEG) signals holds potential as a research tool for objectively assessing auditory processing, which could contribute to future developments in hearing loss diagnosis. However, current methods struggle to meet both high accuracy and interpretability. We propose a deep learning model called the auditory decoding transformer (ADT) network for speech envelope reconstruction from EEG signals to address these issues.

Here, the interaction between two typical aromatic OPFRs, TPHP/EHDPP and HSA was researched by different experiments. Experimental results indicated that TPHP/EHDPP can insert the site I of HSA and be encircled by several amino acid residues, Asp451, Glu292, Lys195, Trp214 and Arg218 played vital roles in this binding process.

Mitophagy plays a key role in maintaining mitochondrial homeostasis and function and is regulated by a series of key mitophagy regulatory proteins and signaling pathways. The results of ototoxicity models indicate the importance of this process in the etiology of ototoxicity.

Methods: Questionnaires were sent to registered otolaryngologists nationwide an online questionnaire system. We investigated the current views and clinical practices of otolaryngologists in mainland China about the diagnosis, examination, and treatment strategies of SSNHL.
Tinnitus is perception of sound in the absence of an apparent external acoustic stimulus. The condition is prevalent in adults, especially the elderly (≥65 years), and may be associated with cognitive function decline and significantly impacts on the quality of life, heralding difficulties in managing this challenging disorder. Interventions for tinnitus have been varied.

Administration of cisplatin, a common chemotherapeutic drug, has an inevitable side effect of sensorineural hearing loss. The main etiologies are stria vascularis injury, spiral ganglion degeneration, and hair cell death. Over several decades, the research scope of cisplatin-induced ototoxicity has expanded with the discovery of the molecular mechanism mediating inner ear cell death, highlighting the roles of reactive oxygen species and transport channels for cisplatin uptake into inner ear cells.

The type of feedstock and pyrolysis temperature are the main reasons affecting the properties of the resulting biochar. Therefore, this paper investigates the effects of different feedstocks (peanut shell, corn straw and soybean straw) and different pyrolysis temperatures (300, 450 and 600 ℃) on the structural morphology and elemental composition of the resulting biochar. The optimum pyrolysis temperature of 600 ℃ was selected based on the comparison of the adsorption of NFX (norfloxacin) by the biochar prepared at different temperatures.

Objective: This study aims to develop and validate a questionnaire-based machine learning model that predicts the diagnosis of vertigo.
Cholesteatoma of the middle ear is a common disease in otolaryngology, which can lead to serious intracranial and extracranial complications. Recent studies showed that the dysregulation of microRNA may be involved in the formation of middle ear cholesteatoma. This study aimed to explore the regulatory effect of micro ribonucleic acid 508-3p () on proliferation and apoptosis of middle ear cholesteatoma cells and excavate its underlying regulatory mechanism.

Ototoxicity is a serious health problem that greatly affects millions of people worldwide. This condition is caused by the entry of aminoglycosides into auditory hair cells, subsequently inducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and accumulation. Several strategies have been adopted to overcome irreversible ROS-induced hair cell loss in mammals.

A rapid, sensitive, and reliable method is required for the detection of HR-HPV in clinical specimens to prevent and treat HPV-induced diseases. In this study, a multiple cross-linking spiral amplification (MCLSA) assay was developed for the visual detection of HPV-16.

The purpose of this study is to enhance the biodegradability of atrazine with FH-1 and NJ-1 alone by selecting the mixing ratio, optimizing the culture medium and conditions. The results showed that FH-1 and NJ-1 have the best biodegradation effect on atrazine being mixed in a volume ratio of 3:2. In a single factor experiment, sucrose and NHCl provided carbon and nitrogen sources for the mixed bacteria.

Aminoglycoside-induced ototoxicity can have a major impact on patients' quality of life and social development problems. Oxidative stress affects normal physiologic functions and has been implicated in aminoglycoside-induced inner ear injury. Excessive accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) damages DNA, lipids, and proteins in cells and induces their apoptosis.

Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) mediate several essential regulatory functions in a wide range of biological processes and diseases, but their roles in NIHHL remain largely unknown. In order to determine the potential roles of these lncRNAs in the pathogenesis of NIHHL, we first evaluated their expression in NIHHL mice model and mapped possible regulatory functions and targets using RNA-sequencing (RNA-seq).
