Article Synopsis
  • Roxadustat is an oral medication used to treat renal anemia, but its pharmacokinetics (how the drug moves in the body) in kidney transplant recipients (KTRs) with early posttransplant anemia (PTA) had not been previously studied.
  • A population pharmacokinetic analysis was conducted with data from 52 Chinese KTRs, identifying factors like body weight and bilirubin levels that affect the drug’s clearance from the body.
  • The study successfully developed a dosing regimen for roxadustat, recommending it at 100 mg three times a week for most KTRs, with adjustments based on individual body weight and bilirubin levels.

Article Synopsis
  • This study explored the effects of supplementation with mulberry leaf (MOL) on oxidative stress, inflammation, and gut bacteria in a rat model of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) induced by letrozole.
  • The research found that MOL supplementation led to a significant reduction in body weight, improved insulin sensitivity, and balanced hormone levels, potentially relieving oxidative stress.
  • Additionally, MOL altered the composition of intestinal flora, suggesting its potential as a supplementary treatment for managing PCOS.

Article Synopsis
  • Moringa oleifera leaf (MLP) has high nutrient content that may help prevent osteoporosis, but its effectiveness and how it works are not fully understood.
  • This research used animal models to test MLP's effects on osteoporosis, examining its influence on gut microbiota and identifying molecular targets through various scientific methods.
  • Results showed that MLP improved bone health indicators in osteoporosis-affected rats and indicated that its benefits might stem from altering gut bacteria and regulating MAPK signaling pathways.

Purpose: To evaluate the effect of naringenin on improving PCOS and explore the mechanism.

Methods: Firstly, we carried out differential gene expression analysis from transcriptome sequencing data of human oocyte to screen the KEGG pathway, then the PCOS-like rat model was induced by letrozole. They were randomly divided into four groups: Normal group (N), PCOS group (P), Diane-35 group (D), and Naringenin group (Nar).

Objective: To explore the effects of the quinoa diet on glycolipid metabolism and endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress in an obese mouse model.

Methods: Six-week-old C57BL/6J female mice have received a high-fat diet (HFD) to induce obesity and subsequently were treated with a quinoa diet for 12 weeks. During this period, fasting blood glucose, body fat and insulin resistance were measured regularly.

Sporadic hemiplegic migraine is a rare form of migraine headache with aura. We herein report a case of visual impairment, dizziness, and motor weakness in a patient who had experienced recurrent headache attacks with aura including flickering spots and blurred vision for 20 years, Electroencephalography, cerebrospinal fluid analysis, and brain imaging findings were normal. The patient gradually recovered after treatment with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and flunarizine.

In this study, complex enzymes combined with ultrasonic extraction technology(MC) were used, to select optimal extraction combinations by single factor and orthogonal test, with Hedysarum polysaccharides yield and content as the comprehensive indexes. The components, physicochemical properties and antioxidant activity of Hedysarum polysaccharides from complex enzyme combined with ultrasonic extraction(HPS-MC)and the Hedysarum polysaccharides from hot water extraction(HPS-R)were analyzed. The results showed that:complex enzymes had significant effect on the yield and content of Hedysarum polysaccharides, and the ultrasonic power could significantly improve the content of Hedysarum polysaccharides.

Background/aims: The adverse effects of obesity on male fertility have been widely reported. In recent years, the relationship between the differential expression of proteins and long non-coding RNAs with male reproductive disease has been reported. However, the exact mechanism in underlying obesity-induced decreased male fertility remains unclear.

To investigate the effect of JTXK granule on the expression pattern of miRNA in pancreatic tissue of KKAy diabetic mice, and to explore the molecular mechanism and pathways of JTXK granule in anti-diabetic effect. We used high fat diet (HFD) to induce the KKAy diabetic mice and screened the differentially expressed miRNAs (DEMs) between JTXK-treated group ( = 6) and the diabetic group ( = 6) using MicroRNA (miRNA) Microarray. C57BL/6J mice were given a normal diet as the control group ( = 6).

Casein kinase 2 (CK2) is a highly pleiotropic serine-threonine kinase, which catalyzed phosphorylation of more than 300 proteins that are implicated in regulation of many cellular functions, such as signal transduction, transcriptional control, apoptosis and the cell cycle. On the other hand, CK2 is abnormally elevated in a variety of tumors, and is considered as a promising therapeutic target. The currently available ATP-competitive CK2 inhibitors, however, lack selectivity, which has impeded their development in cancer therapy.

Mitofusin-2 (Mfn2) is essential for embryonic development, anti-apoptotic events, protection against free radical-induced lesions, and mitochondrial fusion in many cells. However, little is known about its mechanism and function during oocyte maturation. In this study, we found that Mfn2 was expressed in the cytoplasm during different stages of mouse oocyte maturation.

To investigate the potential core reproduction-related genes associated with the development of diabetes, the expression profiles of long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) and messenger RNA (mRNA) in the sperm of diabetic mice were studied. We used microarray analysis to detect the expression of lncRNAs and coding transcripts in six diabetic and six normal sperm samples, and differentially expressed lncRNAs and mRNAs were identified through Volcano Plot filtering. The function of differentially expressed mRNA was determined by pathway and gene ontology (GO) analysis, and the function of lncRNAs was studied by subgroup analysis and their physical or functional relationships with corresponding mRNAs.

A series of novel Heteroaryldihydropyrimidines (HAPs) derivatives were designed and synthesized as potent inhibitors of HBV capsid assembly. These compounds were prepared from efforts to optimize an earlier series of HAPs, and compounds Mo1, Mo7, Mo8, Mo10, Mo12, and Mo13 demonstrated potent inhibition of HBV DNA replication at submicromolar range.

To study the time- and temperature-dependent survival of ovarian oocytes collected from postmortem carcass, ICR mice were killed and placed for different periods (0, 1, 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 h) at different temperatures (25°C, 4°C and 37°C). After preservation, oocyte morphology, germinal vesicle (GV) oocyte number, oocyte meiotic maturation percentage, mitochondrial distribution and intracellular glutathione (GSH) level were evaluated. The results showed no surviving oocytes could be collected by 2h, 6h, and 12 h after carcass preservation at 37°C, 25°C and 4°C, respectively.

An efficient synthesis of enantiopure (R)-heteroarylpyrimidine analogs is described here, which involves introduction of a chiral group, formation and separation of diasteroisomers and final transformation of an amide to an ester. The absolute configuration of the enantiopure HAPs is confirmed by X-ray analysis of their intermediates.
