Schizophrenia, influenced by genetic and environmental factors, may involve epigenetic alterations, notably histone modifications, in its pathogenesis. This review summarizes various histone modifications including acetylation, methylation, phosphorylation, ubiquitination, serotonylation, lactylation, palmitoylation, and dopaminylation, and their implications in schizophrenia. Current research predominantly focuses on histone acetylation and methylation, though other modifications also play significant roles.

Here, we used a magnetic bead conjugated acrosin binding protein (ACRBP) antibody to separate and enrich sperm cells from mixed stains. Previously, western blotting indicated that ACRBP was specifically expressed in sperm cells, but not in female blood and epithelial cells, while immunofluorescence data showed ACRBP was localized to the acrosome in sperm cells.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) can post-transcriptionally regulate DRD1 expression. Here, we established a ketamine-induced schizophrenia-like behavior mouse model and investigated the changes in miR-15a-3p, miR-15b-3p, miR-16-1-3p, and DRD1 in response to ketamine.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFOxidative stress may play an important role in the pathogenesis of schizophrenia (SCH), and there is considerable indirect evidence that hypoxia is closely related to SCH, but direct evidence of hypoxia in SCH has never been found. In this study, superoxide dismutase (SOD), venous blood gas, and Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) were examined in 40 SCH patients and compared with those of 40 healthy controls. The patients were treated with combination of atypical antipsychotics and Ditan Huayu Lishen decoction (a Chinese medicine decoction) and examined in the acute and stable period, respectively.

Skin fibrosis is characterized by excessive proliferation of fibroblasts and overproduction of extracellular matrix (ECM). C1q/tumor necrosis factor-related protein 6 (CTRP6), a member of CTRPs, has been involved in the development of cardiac fibrosis. However, the function and detailed regulatory mechanism of CTRP6 in skin fibrosis remain unclear.

Enantio-pure syn β-hydroxytyrosine was synthesized using Sharpless aminohydroxylation. To obtain anti β-hydroxytyrosine, the cinnamate derivative was oxidized to give the optical active diol derivative by the AD-mix and subsequently, the a-hydroxy group was converted to amine.

Methods: A novel transfection system based on reverse transfection method and three-dimensional (3D) scaffold was developed. The reverse gene transfection system was evaluated for transfection efficiency compared to conventional methods.

The effects of dynamic ultra high-pressure microfluidization on the structure of waxy rice starch solutions (6%) were analyzed using SEM, UV-Vis spectra, polarized light microscopy, and X-ray diffraction spectra. The results showed that: SEM graphs demonstrated that the crystal structure of waxy rice starch under different pressure treatment was destroyed with different degrees and impacted into flake up to 160 MPa; from the ultraviolet-visible spectrum we know the reduction in the blue iodine value and the decrease in the amylopectin content, which illustrated that the structure of waxy rice starch was fractured; polarized microscopic images showed that the polarization crosses of starch molecules became misty with the pressure increasing, and most of starch molecules lost polarization cross when the pressure reached 160 MPa; X-ray diffraction spectra indicated that relative crystallinity began to decline at 120 MPa with pressure treatment, and the decreased amplitude was slightly lower.

After co-transfected the recombinant plasmid and linearized Bac-N-Blue DNA into Sf9 insect cell under intermediary agent of the Cellfectin, the result showed that we have already acquired recombinant baculovirus by screen of plaque assay and identification of PCR. Though the recombinant baculovirus infecting the Sf9 cells again, experiments indicated that 3ABC gene could express in insect cells and the expressed protein was secreted in the supernatant of Sf9 cell culture possessing favourable biological activities detected by adopting two methods of SDS-PAGE and Western blot.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAim: To study whether severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV) could be excreted from digestive system.
Methods: Cell culture and semi-nested RT-PCR were used to detect SARS-CoV and its RNA from 21 stool and urine samples, and a kind of electropositive filter media particles was used to concentrate the virus in 10 sewage samples from two hospitals receiving SARS patients in Beijing in China.
Results: It was demonstrated that there was no live SARS-CoV in all samples collected, but the RNA of SARS-CoV could be detected in seven stool samples from SARS patients with any one of the symptoms of fever, malaise, cough, or dyspnea, in 10 sewage samples before disinfection and 3 samples after disinfection from the two hospitals.
The transmission of severe acute respiratory syndrome-associated coronavirus (SARS-CoV) is associated with close contact to SARS patients and droplet secretions of those patients. The finding of positive RT-PCR results from stools of SARS patients suggests that stools of SARS patients or sewage containing stools of patients could transmit SARS-CoV. We used a novel style of electropositive filter media particle to concentrate the SARS-CoV from the sewage of two hospitals receiving SARS patients in Beijing.

Objective: In order to explore the existence of SARS coronavirus (Co-V) and/or its RNA in sewage of hospitals administered SARS patients.
Methods: A novel electropositive filter was used to concentrate the SARS-CoV from the sewage of two hospitals administered SARS patients in Beijing, including twelve 2,500 ml sewage samples from the hospitals before disinfection, and ten 25,000 ml samples after disinfection; as well as cell culture, RT-PCR and sequencing of gene to detect and identify the viruses from sewage.
Results: There was no live SARS-CoV detected in the sewage in this study.

Objective: To study the effects and mechanism of Yishenjiangyafang, a prescription of Chinese traditional herbs used for renal hypertension, on blood pressure and protecting renal function of RPH rats.
Method: The 5/6 kidney of rat was resected to set up the RPH rat model. Blood pressure, Cr(creatinine), Ccr(creatinine clearance) and BUN(urea nitrogen) were measured dynamically.
