Background: Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a prevalent chronic liver ailment that can lead to serious conditions such as cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. Hepatic Nogo-B regulates glucose and lipid metabolism, and its inhibition has been shown to be protective against metabolic syndrome. Increasing evidence suggests that imbalances in the gut microbiota (GM) and lipid metabolism disorders are significant contributors to NAFLD progression.

Background: An important signaling pathway connecting illness and natural immunity is the cyclic GMP-AMP synthase (cGAS)-stimulator of interferon genes (STING) pathway, but aberrant activation of this pathway is associated with the development of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. Hence, targeted inhibition of the activation of the cGAS-STING pathway is potentially valuable in the treatment of disease. The primary active component of Salvia miltiorrhiza is total tanshinone (TTN).

This study deciphered the ameliorating effect and molecular mechanism of the total glucosides of White Paeony Capsules(TGP) in the treatment of mice model with acute lung injury(ALI) via NOD-like receptor thermal protein domain associated protein 3(NLRP3) signaling pathway of the inflammasome. The study established an inflammasome activation model of primed bone marrow-derived macrophages(BMDMs), and its molecular mechanism was investigated by Western blot(WB), immunofluorescence staining, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA), and flow cytometry. C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided into a blank control group, a TGP group, a model group(LPS group), LPS+low-and high-dose TGP groups, LPS+MCC950 group, and LPS+MCC950+TGP group, with eight mice per group.

Reversibly light and pH dual-responsive spiropyran-based cellulose nanocrystals (SP-CNCs) is synthesized by the attachment of carboxyl-containing spiropyran (SP-COOH) onto cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs). The resulting structure and properties of SP-CNCs are examined by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), elemental analysis, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), dynamic laser light scattering (DSL), -potential measurements and ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) light absorption spectroscopy. SP-CNCs exhibit excellent photochromic and photoswitching properties.

The development of eco-friendly anti-counterfeiting materials with high optical transparency and bright luminescence in the aggregate state is tremendously challenging. Herein, waterborne polyurethane/tetraphenylethylene-cellulose nanocrystal (WPU/TPE-CNC) nanocomposite aqueous solutions and films were prepared direct blending aggregation-induced emission (AIE) active fluorescent CNCs (TPE-CNCs) with WPU and then applied in the anti-counterfeiting field. TPE-CNCs are compatible with WPU and dispersed homogeneously in the nanocomposite aqueous solutions and films.

  • The study demonstrates that tetraphenylethylene-based fluorescent cellulose nanocrystals (TPE-CNCs) can effectively detect iron (Fe) in water with a quick response time of less than 10 seconds.
  • TPE-CNCs show high sensitivity and selectivity for Fe across a pH range of 4 to 10, with a detection limit of 264 nM, which is lower than WHO safety levels for iron in drinking water.
  • This research suggests that TPE-CNCs have significant potential for practical uses in areas like water quality monitoring, sewage treatment, and bioimaging.

In this study, we have innovatively proposed a method for surface modification of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) artificial joint materials with graphene oxide (GO) infiltrated into UHMWPE substrate by ultrasonic induction. The mechanical properties of UHMWPE nanocomposites with GO infiltrated by ultrasonic induction were compared with that of GO mixed. The molecular structure, wettability, peak load, and bio-tribological behavior of GO/UHMWPE nanocomposites were studied using fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, contact angle measuring instrument, electronic universal material testing machine, tribometer, and profilometer, respectively.
