Objectives: Venous thromboembolism is a highly prevalent condition after polytrauma, and recognized as an important factor contributing to poor prognosis. The aim of this study was to investigate the risk factors for lower extremity deep venous thrombosis (LEDVT) in a severely traumatized population and to evaluate their predictive value for LEDVT.

Methods: This was a retrospective, single-center observational study.

We here tested the potential activity and the underlying mechanisms of neuroligin-3 (NLGN3) against ischemia-reperfusion-induced neuronal cell injury. In SH-SY5Y neuronal cells and primary murine cortical neurons, NLGN3 activated Akt-mTOR and Erk signalings, and inhibited oxygen and glucose deprivation (OGD)/re-oxygenation (OGD/R)-induced cytotoxicity. Akt activation was required for NLGN3-induced neuroprotection.

In reinforcement learning, a promising direction to avoid online trial-and-error costs is learning from an offline dataset. Current offline reinforcement learning methods commonly learn in the policy space constrained to in-support regions by the offline dataset, in order to ensure the robustness of the outcome policies. Such constraints, however, also limit the potential of the outcome policies.

Objective: C-reactive protein (CRP)/albumin ratio (CAR) is a new inflammation-based index for predicting the prognosis of various diseases. The CAR determined on admission may help to predict the prognostic value of multiple trauma patients.

Methods: A total of 264 adult patients with severe multiple trauma were included for the present retrospective study, together with the collection of relevant clinical and laboratory data.

Background: Craniocerebral injuries encompass brain injuries, skull fractures, cranial soft tissue injuries, and similar injuries. Recently, the incidence of craniocerebral injuries has increased dramatically due to the increased numbers of traffic accidents and aerial work injuries, threatening the physical and mental health of patients.

Aim: To investigate the impact of failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA)-based emergency management on craniocerebral injury treatment effectiveness.

Glomerular IgM deposition is commonly shown in idiopathic membranous nephropathy, but the clinicopathological features and outcomes of IMN with IgM deposition are unclear. This single-center prospective cohort study enrolled 210 patients with biopsy-proven IMN from January 2016 to December 2018. Clinicopathological features, treatment responses, and kidney outcomes were compared between patients with and without IgM deposition.

Purpose: This study aimed at exploring the application of trauma time axis management in the treatment of severe trauma patients by using the Medicalsystem trauma system.

Methods: We performed a retrospective cohort study involving patients with severe trauma. Patients who were admitted before the application of the Medicalsystem trauma system were divided into before system group; patients who were admitted after the application of the system were divided into after system group.

Background: Decades of cytotoxic and more recently immunotherapy treatments for malignant glioma have had limited success due to dynamic intra-tumoral heterogeneity. The dynamic interplay of cancer cell subpopulations has been found to be under the control of proteins in the cancer microenvironment. EGF-containing fibulin-like extracellular matrix protein (EFEMP1) (also fibulin-3) has the multiple functions of suppressing cancer growth and angiogenesis, while promoting cancer cell invasion.

Naturally fluorescent proteins have been widely used in biological research. In this study, we found that the simple and effective way to obtain enhanced green fluorescent protein (EGFP) nude mice is to cross transgenic EGFP C57BL/6J mice with nude (nu/nu) mice. EGFP expression is identified by tail genotyping.

Background: The gliomas represent the most common primary malignant brain tumors; however, little is known about the molecular pathogenesis of these tumors. Recent research reveals that the oncogenesis and development of gliomas have a close relation to the overexpression of several oncogenes and the inactivation of tumor suppressor genes. Whether the RING finger protein, RNF138, a newly discovered protein, plays a role in glioma oncogenesis is unknown.

Background: One promising area of paddy weed control is the potential for exploiting the weed-suppressing ability of rice. This study was conducted to develop commercially acceptable allelopathic rice cultivars using crosses between allelopathic rice variety PI312777 and commercial Chinese cultivars (N2S, N9S, Huahui354, Peiai64S and Tehuazhan35), and to assess their weed suppression and grain yield in paddy fields in relation to their parents.

Results: There was a positive dominance in the crosses Huahui354 × PI312777 and N2S × PI312777 but recessive or negative dominance in N9S × PI312777, Peiai64S × PI312777 and Tehuazhan35 × PI312777.
