Article Synopsis
  • Colorectal cancer (CRC) is typically diagnosed at an advanced stage, leading to limited treatment success due to therapy resistance mechanisms.
  • Resistance to chemo- and targeted therapies hinders overall survival and necessitates the exploration of new treatment options.
  • Promising therapies such as the α-amanitin antibody-drug conjugate show potential, alongside ongoing developments to enhance responses to checkpoint inhibitors in CRC patients, particularly those with specific tumor characteristics.

Aim: To explore the effects of culture supernatant of bladder tumor cell lines BIU-87 on the development and function of peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC)-derived dendritic cells.

Methods: The culture supernatant of BIU-87 cells was collected and used as the conditional culture medium for PBMC-derived DCs culture in experiment group. Normal cultured DCs were used as control group.

Article Synopsis
  • A cDNA of the rice ragged stunt oryzavirus (RRSV) was created to express its protein PS9 in E. coli, resulting in a purified 38kD polypeptide after cleavage.
  • Using antiserum raised against the fusion protein, gold immuno-labelling experiments indicated that this 38kD polypeptide is a key protein in the virus spikes.
  • Virus transmission tests with brown planthoppers showed that the presence of PS9 inhibited virus transmission, suggesting that spike proteins are crucial for viral infection.
