High temperature (HT) shock is one of environmental stressors suppressing microalgal activities in microalgal wastewater bioremediation system. However, its inhibition mechanism and how to alleviate such suppression remain inadequately understood. This study confirmed a transient ferroptosis as a novel form of programmed cell death in a wastewater-indigenous Chlorella sp.

However, the effect and mechanisms of Cd exposure on the sensitivity of pests in paddy to insecticides remain unclear. Therefore, this study investigated the effects of Cd exposure on the fitness, insecticide sensitivity and symbiotic bacteria of Sogatella furcifera (Horváth) (white-backed planthopper, WBPH).

Recent studies have demonstrated that the primary transcript of miRNAs (pri-miRNAs) are able to encode small peptides influencing plant growth and development, as well as responses to various environmental cues. However, their role in plant responses to salt stress is not fully comprehended. Here, we characterized a short peptide encoded by miR172b (miPEP172b) in rice (Oryza sativa L.

Due to its role in pain and itch, TRPA1 is a potential drug target. We identified an oxindole core structure via high-throughput screening, modified it, and tested the modified compounds in vitro and in vivo.

Methods: Two patients diagnosed with Leigh syndrome were recruited, and whole-exome sequencing was performed to identify the genetic variants responsible for the abnormal gait, dystonia, and bilateral basal ganglia lesions, followed by validation using Sanger sequencing.
There is increasing evidence that the intestinal microbiota plays an integral role in disease pathogenesis and treatment. Specifically, the intestinal microbiota significantly influences the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of orally administered drugs through direct involvement in drug metabolism and, consequently, drug bioavailability. However, the gut microbiota also exerts immunoregulatory effects on the liver-the organ primarily responsible for drug metabolism-thereby indirectly impacting the body's capacity to metabolise and process drugs.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort study involving 28 HBeAg-positive pregnant women with CHB undergoing prophylactic antiviral intervention. Clinical data, virological markers (HBV DNA, HBsAg, HBeAg, HBcrAg and pgRNA) and 28 cytokines were detected at three time points: 24-28 weeks gestation (before prophylactic antiviral intervention), near birth and within 3 months postpartum.
Background: Emerging evidence suggests that increased perirenal adipose tissue (PAT) may trigger systemic inflammation and oxidative stress, potentially contributing to hyperuricemia (HUA). This study aimed to explore the link between PAT and HUA risk, and the potential mediating role of inflammation and oxidative stress.
Methods: This study recruited 903 participants with T2DM.
Introduction: Growth hormone (GH) is crucial for immune system development and regulation, potentially benefiting COVID-19 outcomes. However, there are limited studies on the role of GH treatment in COVID-19 in children with short stature.
Methods: We conducted a survey study to evaluate the association between GH treatment and COVID-19 risk in short stature children aged 7 to 18 years.

Nonetheless, the function of TRPC5 in OSA-induced cardiac injury remains uncertain. For this research, we aimed to explore the role and potential mechanism of TRPC5 in cardiomyocyte injury induced by intermittent hypoxia.

Methods: A total of 2,867 women undergoing their first fertilization (IVF) cycle at Shenzhen Zhongshan Obstetrics & Gynecology Hospital between January 1, 2013 and June 30, 2021, were enrolled in this study. The participants had documented thyroid and ovarian reserve metrics.
Background: The association between the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index and mortality in the general population remains controversial, with inconsistent findings across studies.
Objective: This study aims to investigate the relationship between the TyG index and mortality in the U.S.
We developed glycosyl -(-methoxyphenylpropargyl) pyrrole-2-carboxylates (PPPCs) as highly effective donors for chemical glycosylation. The modular design and exceptional stability of the acid precursor provide PPPC donors with synthetic versatility and ease of use. Activated by NIS/TMSOTf, PPPC donors exhibit a broad compatibility for both - and -glycosylation reactions.

It is a cytoplasmic immune factor that responds to cellular stress signals, and it is usually activated after infection or inflammation, forming an NLRP3 inflammasome to protect the body. Aberrant NLRP3 inflammasome activation is reportedly associated with some inflammatory diseases and metabolic diseases.

It can be difficult to employ optical techniques for analyzing biological structures smaller than or comparable to the wavelength of light, such as extracellular vesicles or some types of bacteria. Biological light scattering spectroscopy (LSS), developed to address this problem, has been successfully used for characterizing tissue on cellular and subcellular scales. At the same time, calibration with a reference sample of known optical properties can complicate LSS measurements.

This paper reports an ultra-narrow-linewidth self-injection locked semiconductor laser, which is realized through optical feedback from a high-Q (258 million) Fabry-Perot (FP) cavity constructed with three mirrors, generating an output power of 12 mW. Employing a delay self-heterodyne method based on a signal source analyzer, the phase noise of the laser is -129 dBc/Hz at 100 kHz offset frequency, with an intrinsic linewidth of 3 mHz.

The pore size difference prevents TRZ from entering HOF-K, while allowing TRZ to selectively insert into the larger-pored HOF-C to form HOF-C-TRZ. The donor-acceptor (D-A) structure formed in HOF-C-TRZ enhances its photoelectric response and exhibits exceptional uranium reduction under visible light irradiation.
