Milk is one of the most common sources of nutrients in humans, however, the composition and healthy value of the milk derived from different animals are very different. Here, we systemically compared the protein and lipid profiles and evaluated the anti-inflammation and antioxidant effect of buffalo and Holstein-derived milk on Caco-2 cells. Results showed that 906 proteins and 1899 lipids were identified in the buffalo milk and Holstein milk samples including 161 significantly different proteins (DEPs) and 49 significantly different lipids.

The prostate glands of wild ground squirrels display enlarged volume during the breeding season and shrunk size during the nonbreeding season, which enables the wild ground squirrel to be an ideal animal model for studying the mechanisms of prostate growth and involution. To clarify the possible mechanism underlying seasonal morphological changes of the prostate in wild ground squirrels, epithelial-mesenchymal transitions (EMT) were focused, and the expression of EMT-related genes was investigated in the current study. Histological results showed that the epithelial lumen enlarged in the breeding season, and the stromal cells expanded during the non-breeding season.

Cardiolipin (CL), a critical phospholipid situated within the mitochondrial membrane, plays a significant role in modulating intramitochondrial processes, especially in the context of certain cardiac pathologies; however, the exact effects of alterations in cardiolipin on septic cardiomyopathy (SCM) are still debated and the underlying mechanisms remain incompletely understood. This study highlights a notable increase in the expressions of ALCAT1 and PLSCR3 during the advanced stage of lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced SCM. This up-regulation potential contribution to mitochondrial dysfunction and cellular apoptosis-as indicated by the augmented oxidative stress and cytochrome c (Cytc) release-coupled with reduced mitophagy, decreased levels of the antiapoptotic protein B-cell lymphoma-2 (Bcl-2) and lowered cell viability.
