Human hearing cannot sensitively detect sounds below 100 Hz, which can affect the physical well-being and lead to dizziness, headaches, and nausea. Piezoelectric acoustic sensors still lack sensitivity to low-frequency sounds owing to the low piezoelectric coefficient or high elastic modulus of materials. The low elastic modulus and substantial piezoelectric coefficient of molecular ferroelectric materials make them excellent candidates for acoustic sensors.

Offset responses are traditionally viewed as indicators of sound cessation. Here, we investigate offset responses to auditory click trains, examining how they are modulated by inter-click intervals (ICIs) and train duration. Using extracellular recordings and electrocorticography (ECoG) in non-human primates, alongside electroencephalography (EEG) in humans, we show that offset responses are significantly influenced by both ICI and train length, thereby establishing them as markers of temporal integration.

The CRISPR-Cas systems are adopted as powerful molecular tools for not only genetic manipulation but also point-of-care diagnostics. However, methods to enable diagnostics of non-nucleic-acid targets with these systems are still limited. Herein, by fusing ligand-dependent allosteric ribozymes with CRISPR-Cas12a, a derived CRISPR-Cas system is created for efficient quantitative analysis of non-nucleic-acid targets in 1-2 h.

The mechanisms of Parkinson's disease (PD) are not fully understood, which hinders the development of effective therapies. Research indicates that lower levels of biochemical indicators like bilirubin, vitamin D, and cholesterol may elevate the risk of PD. However, clinical studies on abnormal levels of biochemical indicators in PD patients' circulation are inconsistent, leading to ongoing debate about their association with PD.
