Sensitive and specific miRNA detection is essential for the early cancer diagnosis. In this work, we design a fluorescent microRNA biosensor based on exponential amplification reaction (EXPAR) and nicking endonuclease-powered three-dimensional (3-D) bipedal DNA walkers (BDW). Target microRNA initiates EXPAR with the help of polymerase and nicking endonuclease to generate the large number of BDW in solution.

N-Methyladenosine (mA) is the most abundant RNA modification in eukaryotic messenger RNA (mRNA). A highly sensitive electrochemical immunosensor is described for the determination of mA-RNA. The method is based on the use of antibody (anti-mA) and PtCo mesoporous nanospheres (MPNs).

An entropy-driven 3-D DNA walking machine is presented which involves catalytic hairpin assembly (CHA) for detection of microRNA. A 3-D DNA walking machine was designed that uses streptavidin-coated polystyrene microspheres as track carriers to obtain reproducibility. The method was applied to microRNA 21 as a model analyte.

An improved enzyme-free immunosorbent assay is described for the simultaneous detection of the myocardial infarction biomarkers N-terminal pro B type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP), creatine kinase-MB (CK-MB), and cardiac muscle troponin T (cTnT). The assay integrates 3D gold nanovesicles (GNVs) and three allochroic agents (phenolphthalein, methyl red, bromothymol blue). The pH regulated allochroic agents were enwrapped in GNVs to acts as ultrasensitive nanoprobes.

Background/aims: BMP9 is highly capable of promoting osteogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) although the molecular mechanism involved is largely unknown. Here, we explored the detail role of PKA/CREB signaling in BMP9-induced osteogenic differentiation.

Methods: Activation status of PKA/CREB signaling is assessed by nonradioactive assay and Western blot.

Nonunion is a serious complication of a bone fracture that may occur in any bone of the skeletal system. It occurs when a broken bone fails to heal. Mesenchymal stem cell (MSC)-based tissue engineering technology has been considered an efficient method to improve the healing rate of nonunions.
