The combination of shikonin (SKN) and gefitinib (GFB) can reverse the drug resistance of lung cancer cells by affecting energy metabolism. However, the poor solubility of SKN and GFB limits their clinical application because of low bioavailability. Wheat germ agglutinin (WGA) can selectively bind to sialic acid and N-acetylglucosamine on the surfaces of microfold cells and enterocytes, and is a targeted biocompatible material.

Androgenetic alopecia seriously affects the physical and mental health of patients. The main clinical therapeutic agent, minoxidil tincture, is challenged by solvent irritation and dose-dependent side effects. Our recent work has identified a biosafety natural product, cedrol, that is synergistic in combination with minoxidil, thereby improving medication safety by substantially reducing the clinical dose of minoxidil.

The occurrence and development of tumors are associated with the cell energy metabolism. Inhibiting energy metabolism of lung cancer cells is an important strategy to overcome drug resistance. Based on the cellular energy metabolism pathway, this study observed the effect of combination of shikonin(SKN) and gefitinib(GFB) on the drug resistance in non-small cell lung cancer and explored the underlying mechanism.

Androgenic alopecia (AGA) has a considerable impact on the physical and mental health of patients. Nano preparations have apparent advantages and high feasibility in the treatment of AGA. Cardamonin (CAR) has a wide range of pharmacological activities, but it has the problems of poor solubility in water and low bioavailability.

Article Synopsis
  • Enterocyte uptake of oral nanocarriers poses challenges due to high binding efficiency and interference, but a new type of nanoparticle (SDPN) has been developed to address these issues by mimicking cell membranes.
  • The SDPN nanoparticles show better stability in the gastrointestinal tract and improved uptake in cells, facilitating the delivery of cancer-fighting compounds like luteolin and silibinin to reduce breast cancer metastasis in mice.
  • This innovative membrane-biomimetic approach not only enhances drug delivery effectiveness but also helps regulate immune responses and reduce cancer-related blood vessel growth, indicating its potential for future cancer therapies.

Background: The stratum corneum (SC) is the main barrier of the skin, and cosmeceuticals are different from ordinary cosmetics in that they need to deliver active ingredients targeting specific skin problems through the SC into the deeper layers of the skin. Thus, we designed a compound essential oil (CEO) extracted from Bge and Presl, supplemented with borneol to deliver active ingredients through the SC.

Methods: The CEO was prepared by flash extraction combined with the microwave method.

Objective: To analyze the phenotype and genotype of two Chinese family with inherited dysfibrinogenemia and the molecular pathogenic mechanism.

Methods: In the probands and their family members, coagulation routine, fibrinogen activity (Fg: A) and fibrinogen antigen (Fg: Ag) were detected. To find the mutation and exclude single nucleotide polymorphisms, all the exons and exons-intron boundaries of fibrinogen genes (FGA, FGB and FGG) were amplified by Ploymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), then sequenced.

To determine the prognostic significance of postoperative platelet/preoperative platelet ratio (PPR) in patients with operable non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and assess its prognostic benefit compared to models relying solely preoperative platelet counts (PLT). A retrospective analysis of 403 patients who underwent radical resection of NSCLC in our institution from 2013 to 2018 was conducted to assess the prognostic significance of PLT and PPR. Progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) were performed by the Kaplan-Meier method.

This study aimed to evaluate the clinical values of platelet parameters in patients with digestive tumors. A total of 974 people were classified into three groups: malignant group, patients with digestive malignant tumors; benign group, patients with benign tumors; and normal group: healthy individuals. Compared with the benign and normal groups, the malignant group showed significantly increased platelet count (PLT) and plateletcrit (PCT) and significantly reduced mean platelet volume (MPV) and platelet-large cell rate (P-LCR, p < 0.

Objective: To analyze the phenotype and genotype of a patient affected with inherited antithrombin deficiency.

Methods: All exons and exon-intron boundaries of the AT genes were subjected to PCR amplification and Sanger sequencing. The influence of variants on the disease was predicted using bioinformatic software (MutationTaster).
