In this study, two modified turmeric starch-dioscin-curcumin nanocarriers were synthesized by antisolvent co-precipitation (ASCP) and antisolvent precipitation (ASP) methods, with dioscin serving as a natural surfactant. Subsequently, the structural characteristics, physical stability, and curcumin sustained release properties of nanocarriers were comprehensively characterized. The results indicated that both modified nanocarriers exhibited similar morphology and functional groups, along with enhanced physical stability and storage stability.

This study aimed to examine the in vitro digestion properties and immunomodulatory effects of inulin-type fructans (ALP-1) from Arctium lappa L. on immunosuppressive mice and to explore the underlying mechanisms. The simulated gastrointestinal digestion showed that ALP-1 underwent slight degradation during gastric and intestinal fluid digestion, with most of it reaching the gut as long-chain structures.

. is widely consumed for its various biological effects, and polysaccharides are its main functional components. The present study aimed to evaluate the immunoregulatory effects of the main polysaccharides from burdock (ALP-1) and reveal the underlying mechanisms.

This study aimed to prepare a complex of Cr (III) and garlic polysaccharides (GPs) and evaluate the in vitro and in vivo hypoglycemic activities of GPs and GP-Cr (III) complexes. The chelation of GPs with Cr (III) increased molecular weight, modified crystallinity, and altered morphological characteristics, through targeting the OH of hydroxyl groups and involving the C-O/O-C-O structure. The GP-Cr (III) complex had a higher thermal stability over 170-260 °C and higher stability throughout the gastrointestinal digestion.

Garlic saccharides have prebiotic activity, but the association between their function and structure is still poorly known. In present study, four different garlic saccharides were obtained from garlic polysaccharides (GPs) after acidolysis by ultrafiltration. Obtained GPs were constituted by different monosaccharides, among which fructose and glucose were the main components, while galactose was a major component of GPs-U6.

This study explored the potential of garlic polysaccharides (GPs) as a carrier for synthesizing GP-Zn (II) complexes to supplement Zn. According to the response surface analysis, the optimal preparation conditions were: mass ratio of GPs to Zn 1:0.21, temperature 53 °C, pH 5.

Background: The clinical efficacy of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in the treatment of total joint replacement (TJR) remains inconclusive. In this paper, systematic review and meta-analysis was adopted to assess the efficacy of using PRP for the treatment of TJR.

Methods: A comprehensive search of Medline, Embase, and Cochrane library databases for randomized controlled trial (RCT) articles recording data of PRP for TJR was conducted from inception to February 2022.

Spermatogenesis is a complicated process that is tightly regulated by the well-coordinated expression of a series of genes in the testes. Ankyrin repeat domain-containing protein 49 (ANKRD49), an evolutionarily conserved protein highly expressed in the testes, is mainly found in spermatogonia, spermatocytes, and round spermatids. However, the exact function of ANKRD49 in spermatogenesis has remained elusive.

Clara cell protein (CC16) is an anti-inflammatory protein, which is expressed in the airway epithelium. It is involved in the development of airway inflammatory diseases, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma. However, the exact molecular mechanism underlying its anti‑inflammatory action remains to be fully elucidated.

Objective: To investigate the relationship between the structures of polyphenolic compounds found in grape seed extract (GSE) and their activity in cross-linking dentin collagen in clinically relevant settings.

Methods: Representative monomeric and dimeric GSE constituents including (+)-catechin (pCT), (-)-catechin (CT), (-)-epicatechin (EC), (-)-epigallocatechin (EGC), (-)-epicatechin gallate (ECG), (-)-epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), procyanidin B2 and a pCT-pCT dimer were purchased or synthesized. GSE was separated into low (PALM) and high molecular weight (PAHM) fractions.

The objective of this study is to report for the first time the spontaneous polymerization phenomenon of self-etch dental adhesives induced by hydroxylapatite (HAp). Model self-etch adhesives were prepared by using a monomer mixture of bis[2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl] phosphate (2MP) with 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA). The initiator system consisted of camphorquinone (CQ, 0.

A series of substrate analogues has been used to determine which chemical moieties of the substrate phosphoenolpyruvate (PEP) contribute to the allosteric inhibition of rabbit muscle pyruvate kinase by phenylalanine. Replacing the carboxyl group of the substrate with a methyl alcohol or removing the phosphate altogether greatly reduces substrate affinity. However, removal of the carboxyl group is the only modification tested that removes the ability to allosterically reduce the level of Phe binding.

The uniquely functionalized steroid-based cyclodimers 4, cis-5, and trans-5 have been synthesized and fully characterized. The cyclodimer 5, with a cis-trans ratio of 3:1, is obtained by coupling the terminal alkenes of two 4-pentenoate groups on a cyclodimer 4 via Grubbs' intramolecular ring-closing metathesis. The crystal structure shows cis-5 to be a cagelike cyclic oligomer bridged by the flexible oct-4-enedioate link.

The first iodinated cyclopentadienone was isolated and its structure was confirmed by single crystal X-ray analysis. Based on this intermediate, the first direct C-C bond formation on cyclopentadienone ring was achieved. The photo induced intramolecular charge transfer of alkynylated cyclopentadienones was evaluated by solvent polarity effect on their electronic absorption spectra.
