Article Synopsis
  • Fungi like T. rubrum and M. canis are major causes of skin infections, and Rumex japonicus Houtt. is traditionally noted for its effectiveness against these pathogens.
  • Researchers used methods like vinegar extraction, alcohol precipitation, HPLC, and NMR to analyze the chemical properties of RJH and tested its anti-fungal capabilities in laboratory settings, finding it has strong activity against dermatophytes.
  • The study identified seven anthraquinones in RJH, showing effective minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) and revealing the extracts can inhibit spore germination, disrupt cell membranes, and damage biofilms, confirming RJH's potential fungicidal properties.

Based on the 87 original publications only from quartiles 1 and 2 of Journal Citation Report (JCR) collected by the major academic databases (Science Direct, Web of Science, PubMed, and Wiley) in 2022, the frontier of toxicology studies in zebrafish model is summarized. Herewith, a total of six aspects is covered such as developmental, neurological, cardiovascular, hepatic, reproductive, and immunizing toxicities. The tested samples involve chemicals, drugs, new environmental pollutants, nanomaterials, and its derivatives, along with those related mechanisms.

Folium Carbonisatum (FAAC) is a traditional medicine widely used in clinic. It has the effect of hemostasis by warming meridians. In order to further explore the chemical composition and biological activity of FAAC, the methanol extract of FAAC was isolated and purified by open column and high- performance liquid chromatography.
