Screening for Fabry disease in patients with left ventricular hypertrophy in China: A multicentre and prospective study.

Aims: Left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) is frequently detected via echocardiography in individuals with Fabry disease (FD), sometimes leading to confusion with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) of other aetiologies. Considering this diagnosis challenge, FD should be included in the list of differential diagnosis for patients presenting with LVH. To address this concern, we conducted a prospective screening study in China, using dried blood spot (DBS) testing, to evaluate patients with unexplained LVH.

Genome cloning and genetic evolution analysis of eight duck-sourced novel goose parvovirus strains in China in 2023.

Introduction: There are three major categories of waterfowl parvoviruses, namely goose parvovirus (GPV), Muscovy duck parvovirus, and novel goose parvovirus (NGPV). NGPV can infect both Cherry Valley ducks and mule ducks, resulting in short beaks and dwarfism syndrome, and the incidence of short beaks and dwarfism syndrome rises annually, posing a significant threat to the waterfowl breeding and the animal husbandry. Therefore, clarifying the biological characteristics and genetic evolution of NGPV is very important for the prevention and control of NGPV.

Occurrence of 8 trace elements in Rhizoma Cibotii from China and exposure assessment.

The contamination of trace elements in Chinese edible herbs has attracted worldwide concern over the world. The objective of the present study was to investigate the occurrence and exposure assessment of eight trace elements in Rhizoma Cibotii from China. For this purpose, the method of inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry was employed to detect the contamination levels of target trace elements in 58 Rhizoma Cibotii samples.

Chest tube-free video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery secured by quantitative air leak monitoring: a case series.

Background: Although chest tube-omitted video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) has been proven to be safe and efficacious, its universal application is precluded by a varying morbidity rate due to a lack of standardization. Pulmonary rehabilitation training for improving pulmonary function and exercise tolerance in patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Objective: To investigate the effect of pulmonary rehabilitation training on pulmonary function and exercise tolerance in patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Methods: By a random number table method, 90 patients with COPD admitted to our hospital from January 2019 to January 2020 were divided into three groups: the control group (conventional treatment), the observation group A (conventional treatment + pulmonary rehabilitation training three times a week) and the observation group B (conventional treatment + pulmonary rehabilitation training five times a week), with 30 patients in each group. The pulmonary function, exercise tolerance (the 6-min walking distance (6MWD)), sleep quality (Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI)) and quality of life (generic quality of life inventory-74 (GQOLI-74)) before and after intervention were compared among the three groups.

Methods: Expression levels of PTPRG antisense RNA 1 and miR-200c-3p in nonsmall cell lung cancer tissues and cells were detected by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction, while transcription factor 4 expression was examined by immunohistochemistry and Western blot.

Comparison of efficacy and safety of Chinese patent medicine in the treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis: A protocol for systematic review and network meta-analysis.

Background: Postmenopausal osteoporosis (PMOP) is the focus and difficult problem in the world at present, and we found that Chinese patent medicine(CPM) shown a more miraculous effect. Many kinds of Chinese patent medicine have been proved to be effective in the treatment of this disease, but it is still unclear which kind of Chinese patent medicine has the best effect. Therefore, we propose a network meta-analysis (NMA) protocol to observe the efficacy of various CPM for this disease and provide guidance for clinical practice.

An increased duplication of ZRS region that caused more than one supernumerary digits preaxial polydactyly in a large Chinese family.

Preaxial polydactyly (PPD) is inherited in an autosomal dominant fashion and characterized by the presence of one or more supernumerary digits on the thumb side. It had been identified that point mutation or genomic duplications of the long-range limb-specific cis-regulator - zone of polarizing activity regulatory sequence (ZRS) cause PPD or other limb deformities such as syndactyly type IV (SD4) and Triphalangeal thumb-polysyndactyly syndrome (TPTPS). Most previously reported cases involved with no more than one extra finger; however, the role of the point mutation or genomic duplications of ZRS in the case of more than one redundant finger polydactyly remains unclear.
