The selective production of C4 bulk chemicals from biomass is significant to replace the traditional method from petroleum resource. In this work, the succinic anhydride (SAN) is directly prepared from bio-based furanic platform compounds utilizing the visible light-induced oxygenation process, in which -tetraphenyl porphyrin (HTPP) and molecular oxygen was employed as the photocatalyst and terminal oxidant, respectively. Under optimal conditions, a 99.

Hydrolysis of the biomass platform compound furfural can produce a bulk of fine chemicals because of its multiple functional groups. Developing an efficient catalytic system to regulate the process toward some desirable products has always been a hot research area. Herein, the novel Ni-based catalysts (Ni-MFC-, = 300, 400.

A series of D-π-A organic dyes, X72-75, containing novel triarylamine electron donors have been synthesized for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs). The superiority of the asymmetric design of the triphenylamine electron donor over the symmetrical triphenylamine when applied in organic dyes for cobalt cells has been observed. Using X72 with the cobalt(II/III) redox shuttle resulted in an overall power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 9.

An efficient and tin-catalyzed production of 5-hydroxymethyl furfural (5-HMF) from carbohydrates is reported. The efficient conversion of glucose has been investigated using the combination of SnCl4 and different quaternary ammonium salts. It was found that tetrabutyl ammonium bromide (TBAB) was able to efficiently promote conversion of glucose to 5-HMF in the presence of SnCl4.

A new bifunctionalized TiO(2) film containing a dye-sensitized region and a degradation region was described. A similar structure of dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) was fabricated in the dye-sensitized region to accomplish separation of electrons from positive charges, and separation of dye from pollutants to avoid dye decomposition. The bifunctionalized TiO(2) film electrode and anode electrode can degrade methyl orange (MO) in reactors A and B, respectively.

The highly efficient and selective production of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) from sucrose has been achieved in the presence of metal chlorides and ammonium halides under mild conditions. Notably, an 87% yield of HMF from sucrose was obtained with a catalyst system composed of CrCl(3) and NH(4)Br at 100°C for 1.0 h in N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMAc) solvent.

The renewable furan-based platform chemical, 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF), has been efficiently synthesized from d-fructose and sucrose in the presence of a catalytic amount of protic ionic liquids. The 1-methylimidazolium-based and N-methylmorpholinium-based ionic liquids are employed. As a result, 74.

The dehydration of D-fructose and glucose has been studied with acidic ionic liquids as catalysts. A series of Brønsted-acidic ionic liquids has been synthesized and tested in the dehydration of D-fructose. The results showed that N-methyl-2-pyrrolidonium methyl sulfonate [NMP](+)[CH(3)SO(3)](-) and N-methyl-2-pyrrolidonium hydrogen sulfate [NMP](+)[HSO(4)](-) have high catalytic activity.
