Combination of immunotherapy and photothermal therapy (PTT) provides a promising therapeutic performance for tumors. However, it still faces negative feedback from suppressive factors such as adenosine. Herein, we developed a new nanodrug that can combine adenosine blockade and ferroptosis to promote the photoimmunotherapy of triple negative breast cancer (TNBC).

The ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS) is essential for cellular homeostasis, regulating the degradation of proteins involved in key processes such as cell cycle, apoptosis, and DNA repair. Dysregulation of the UPS is implicated in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), contributing to tumor progression and therapeutic resistance. The cereblon (CRBN) E3 ubiquitin ligase complex is a crucial component of the UPS, particularly in modulating protein degradation in response to small-molecule modulators like thalidomide.

Two dipicolylamine (DPA) derivatives with the pyrene and anthracene groups, 1-(pyren-1-yl)-N, N-bis-(pyridine-2-ylmethyl)benzylamine (L1) and 1-(anthracen-9-yl)-N, N-bis-(pyridine-2-ylmethyl)benzylamine (L2) were synthesized, characterized, and their affinitive properties for metal ions were studied. The mass spectroscopy and Job's plots showed that L1 and L2 reacted with Cu and formed complexes [Cu(L1)(solvent)] (L1-Cu) and [Cu(L2)(solvent)] (L2-Cu), respectively. Both L1 and L2 were fluorescent probes recognizing Cu via the emission quenching and further detecting HS via the emission revival.

Introduction: Liver transplantation (LT) provides significant survival benefits to patients with unresectable HCC. In the United States, organ allocation policies for HCCs within the United Network for Organ Sharing criteria do not prioritize patients based on their differences in oncological characteristics. This study assessed whether transplant-associated survival benefits (TASBs) vary among patients with different tumor burden scores (TBS) measured at the time of listing.

The GD-1 stellar stream exhibits spur and gap structures that may result from a close encounter with a dense substructure. When interpreted as a dark matter subhalo, the perturber is denser than predicted in the standard cold dark matter (CDM) model. In self-interacting dark matter (SIDM), however, a halo could evolve into a phase of gravothermal collapse, resulting in a higher central density than its CDM counterpart.

Compared to liquid electrolytes, gel polymer electrolytes (GPEs) offer enhanced safety and represent an up-and-coming option for high-energy-density lithium metal batteries (LMBs). However, several challenges hindered the practical application of GPEs for LMBs, such as low ionic conductivity at room temperature, decomposition at high voltage, and poor interfacial compatibility with lithium anode. In this study, a non-flammable fluorinated GPE was synthesized using 2,2,2-trifluoroethyl acrylate (TFEA) and ethoxylated trimethylolpropane triacrylate (ETPTA) as precursor materials, with succinonitrile (SN) incorporated as a plasticizer and a dual-salt system of lithium bis(trifluoro-methane) sulfonimide and lithium difluoroxalate borate.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is characterized by the deposition of misfolded α-synuclein (α-syn) in the brain. Converging evidence indicates that the intracellular transmission and subsequent templated amplification of α-syn are involved in the onset and progression of PD. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying the cell-to-cell transmission of pathological α-syn remain poorly understood.

Background: Although several studies linked the sugary beverages to chronic kidney disease (CKD), the role of different types of sugary beverages in the development of CKD remained inconsistent. This study aimed to examine the associations of sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs), artificially-sweetened beverages (ASBs), and natural juices (NJs) with CKD risk, and assess the extent to which the associations were mediated through metabolic syndrome (MetS).

Methods: This is a prospective analysis of 191,956 participants from the UK Biobank.

Background: High-risk cytomegalovirus (CMV) and Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) mismatches (ie, seropositive donors to seronegative recipients) among kidney transplant recipients lead to increased healthcare utilization, inferior allograft outcomes, and high mortality. We assessed the interest among prospective kidney donor and recipient candidates to participate in kidney paired donation (KPD) for averting CMV/EBV high-risk mismatches.

Methods: We surveyed 51 potential living donors and 102 kidney recipient candidates presenting for their evaluation visit at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center between October 2022 and May 2023.

In this work, we consider the question how to detect the planar tetracoordination hydrogen geometry which was recently proposed by electronic structure calculations on the InH system ( , , e202317312; e202400927; e202403214). Keeping the symmetry, a two-dimensional model of InH is designed to build the nonadiabatic Hamiltonian operator with the lowest-lying singlet and triplet states coupled with spin-orbit coupling. The electronic energies in fitting the potential energy matrix are computed at either the MRCI or CCSD (T) level.

The accumulation of amyloid-β (Aβ) and overactivation of microglia contribute to the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease (AD), but the interaction between microglial activation and Aβ deposition in AD remains elusive. Here we revealed that Aβ activates microglia and promotes the release of Galectin-9 (Gal-9), a member of the β-galactoside-binding family of lectins. The levels of Gal-9 in the cerebrospinal fluid and brain tissues of AD patients are higher than those in control subjects.
