While amyloidopathy and tauopathy have been recognized as hallmarks in Alzheimer's disease (AD) brain, recently, increasing lines of evidence have supported the pathological roles of cerebrovascular changes in the pathogenesis and progression of AD. Restoring or ameliorating the impaired cerebrovascular function during the early phase of the disease may yield benefits against the cognitive decline in AD. Moreover, taste affects the overall comfort in the oral cavity, and is a fundamental attribute for the assessment of food items. Accordingly, clarifying the material basis of taste would be conducive to deepening the cognition of taste, investigating the mechanism of taste presentation, and accurately covering up unpleasant taste.

Methods: We investigated the correlations among cognitive impairment, MFS, seizure frequency and drug resistance in a rat model of epilepsy induced by lithium-pilocarpine.
Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma (PPARγ) is critical in protecting against inflammatory and oxidative stresses post brain injury. We have previously reported that rosiglitazone, an agonist of PPARγ, was effective to prevent microglia from apoptosis and ameliorate neuronal injuries post intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) with suppression of matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP9) expression. However, molecular mechanisms linking how PPARγ decreases MMP9 remain unknown.

Methods: Twenty-five consecutive patients with cervical metastasis of CUP were retrospectively analyzed by PET/CT between July 2007 and July 2011.
