Article Synopsis
  • Diabetes significantly impacts intracranial atherosclerosis, and this study explored the potential of using radiomics features to differentiate plaques associated with diabetes.
  • Researchers analyzed clinical data and imaging features from 157 stroke patients to assess the relationship between plaque characteristics and diabetes, using logistic regression and ROC curve analysis.
  • The findings revealed that incorporating radiomics features provided a better diagnostic accuracy for identifying diabetes-related plaques compared to traditional plaque measurements alone, suggesting new research directions for treatment strategies.

Objective: To investigate the effect of cysteine protease inhibitor derived from (SjCystatin) on dextran sodium sulfate (DSS)-induced acute ulcerative colitis in mice.

Methods: Eighteen C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into three groups: a control group treated with PBS (Group A), a DSS-induced-colitis group treated with PBS (Group B), and a DSS-induced-colitis group treated with SjCystatin (Group C). Colitis was induced in mice by giving 3% DSS orally for 7 days.

Objective: To analyze the component of adult worm excretory/secretory protein(AWESP) from Trichinella spiralis using the shotgun method, and find out the active component underlying its regulatory effect on colitis in humans.

Methods: The T. spiralis AWESP was prepared, separated by SDS-PAGE, lysed with trypsin, and analyzed by shotgun LC-MS/MS.

Severe left ventricular (LV) dysfunction patients undergoing off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (OPCAB) are often associated with a higher mortality. The efficacy and safety of the preoperative prophylactic intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) insertion is not well established. 416 consecutive patients with severe LV dysfunction (ejection fraction ≤35%) undergoing isolated OPCAB were enrolled in a retrospective observational study.

Objective: To investigate the killing effect of hypericin on tachyzoites of Toxoplasma gondii RH strain in vitro.

Methods: Normal saline (group A) and different concentrations of hypericin (5 μg/ml, group B; 50 μg/ml, group C; 500 μg/ml, group D) were added to T. gondii tachyzoites in 24-well plate(1×10(6)/well).

Objective: To observe the effect of excretory/secretory products from adult worms (AES) on cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) -induced sepsis in mice.

Methods: Forty-eight BALB/c mice were randomly divided into 3 groups:a sham operation group (PBS + sham group, Group A), a CLP-induced sepsis group (PBS+CLP group, Group B) and an AES treatment group (AES+CLP group, Group C). The mice of each group were intraperitoneally injected with 25 μg of AES or PBS only as a control in a total volume of 200 μl.

Objective: To observe the immune response induced by ROP2 protein of Toxoplasma gondii with cimetidine in mice.

Methods: Eighty BALB/c mice were randomly divided into 4 groups: PBS (group A), ROP2 protein (group B), ROP2 protein-Freund's adjuvant (group C) and ROP2 protein-cimetidine (group D). Mice were immunized with PBS, ROP2 protein, ROP2 protein and Freund's adjuvant, ROP2 protein and cimetidine [200 mg/(kg x d)] by subcutaneous injection three times at an interval of 2 weeks, respectively.

Objective: To observe the role of CD8+ T cells in the tumor growth delay induced by Toxoplasma gondii excreted-secreted antigens (TgESA) in B16FI0 mouse melanoma model in the early stage.

Methods: TgESA were prepared by incubating T. gondii tachyzoites for 12 h in vitro.

Objective: To express the recombinant BSR4 protein of Toxoplasma gondii Prugniaud (PRU) strain and study its immunologic characteristics.

Methods: The recombinant plasmid pET28a(+)-BSR4 was transformed into E. coli BL21, followed by expression of BSR4 induced by IPTG and its purification.
