Background: Although heart failure is a well-known major global public health concern, the general understanding of the clinical status of pediatric heart failure (PHF) is inadequate. Therefore, this study aims to enhance the general understanding of clinical characteristics across different PHF age groups and provide references for improving PHF treatment strategies.
Methods: This multicenter retrospective cohort study involved patients from 20 Chinese provinces, primarily including hospitalized patients (aged ≤18 years) diagnosed with heart failure between January 2013 and December 2022.
In this study, we aimed to investigate the inhibitory effects of cumin and cumin extracts from different origins (Hami, Turpan, and Hetian) on the formation of -carboline heterocyclic amines (HCAs) in smoked meat and simulated systems, and to assess their potential as natural inhibitors in the food industry. The novelty of our research lies in the comprehensive comparative analysis of cumin extracts from different origins, which has not been fully explored in previous studies. We first conducted a quantitative analysis of the total phenol and flavonoid content in cumin extracts from the three origins and evaluated their antioxidant capacities.

However, this classical view of antibody function has been severely challenged by a large and growing number of studies, which reveal long-range conformational interactions and allosteric links between the V and C regions. This review comprehensively summarizes the existing studies on antibody allostery, including allosteric conformational changes induced by covalent modifications or noncovalent ligand binding.

This study aimed to assess the clinical outcomes of using compound sodium acetate Ringer's solution (AR) for fluid resuscitation in children with septic shock.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of children with septic shock admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit of the Affiliated Hospital of Southwest Medical University from December 2019 to January 2023.
Objectives: Ganoderma lucidum (GL) is a white rot fungus widely used for its pharmacological properties and health benefits. GL consists of several biological components, including polysaccharides, sterols, and triterpenoids. Triterpenoids are often found in GL in the form of lanostane-type triterpenoids with quadrilateral carbon structures.

Matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) has been employed for quick and accurate identification of microorganisms in the prevention of foodborne epidemics in recent years. Herein, we first summarize the principle of MALDI and its workflow for foodborne pathogens.

However, the application process has been hindered by the high Mg ions diffusion barrier in solid-state structures and solid-liquid interphase. To address this issue, a hybrid battery technology based on Mg anode and Fe-based Prussian Blue Analogue cathode doped with functional transition metal ions and N═O bonds is proposed.

This results in frequent adulteration of SLS sourced from () with other plant seeds endosperm. Traditional chloroplast DNA barcoding methods are inadequate for species identification due to the absence of chloroplasts in seeds endosperm.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFunctional and pathological recovery after spinal cord injury (SCI) is often incomplete due to the limited regenerative capacity of the central nervous system (CNS), which is further impaired by several mechanisms that sustain tissue damage. Among these, the chronic activation of immune cells can cause a persistent state of local CNS inflammation and damage. However, the mechanisms that sustain this persistent maladaptive immune response in SCI have not been fully clarified yet.

Objectives: To investigate the expression of microRNA-142 (miR-142) in children with autoimmune thyroid disease (AITD) and its relationship with the imbalance of helper T cell 17 (Th17) and regulatory T cell (Treg).
Methods: A total of 89 children hospitalized for AITD from January 2019 to December 2022 were prospectively selected as the study subjects, including 48 children with Graves' disease (GD group) and 41 children with Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT group). Additionally, 55 healthy children undergoing physical examinations during the same period were selected as the control group.
The adulteration of goat milk powder occurs frequently; cattle-derived and soybean-derived ingredients are common adulterants in goat milk powder. However, simultaneously and rapidly detecting cattle-derived and soybean-derived components is still a challenge. An efficient, high-throughput screening method for adulteration detection is needed.

Few studies have explored the differences in the mechanisms of accumulation of β-CHAs in smoked meat and meat processed at high temperatures. In this research, the concentration of β-CHAs in smoked meats prepared using a variety of wood materials was measured using LCMS/MS.

By transplanting AFB-originated fecal microbiota and sterile fecal microbial metabolites filtrate, we determined the association of PAMP in AFB-induced liver pyroptosis. Notably, AFB-originated sterile fecal microbial metabolites filtrate were more active in triggering liver pyroptosis in mice, as compared to parental fecal microbiota.
