Objective: To explore the correlations of the expression of mutant isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH1) (R132H) protein with angiogenesis and cell proliferation in glioma.
Methods: We performed polymerase chain reaction-based IDH gene mutation screening in 385 glioma samples, and the subcellular localization and expression levels of IDH1 (R132H) was examined by immunohistochemistry (IHC). Ki-67 labeling index was introduced to determine the proliferation of glioma cells, and the microvessel density was measured through CD34 staining.

Objective: To investigate the impact of metformin (Met) on THP-1 macrophage-derived foam cell formation induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and observe the changes of lipid droplets (LDs) and LDs-associated proteins.
Methods: THP-1 cells were induced to differentiate into macrophages by 100 ng/mL phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA) for 48 hours, and then the macrophages were further induced to generate foam cells by 50 μg/mL oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL) and 1 μg/mL LPS. During this process, these foam cells were treated with 0, 100, 200 μmol/L Met.
Objectives: Anti-muscarinic acetylcholine type-3 receptor (anti-M3R) autoantibodies have been suggested to be pathogenic for primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS), and the second extracellular loop of M3R is suspected to carry a disease-promoting epitope. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the pathogenicity of autoantibodies against peptides derived from the second extracellular loop of M3R in mice and to determine whether those autoantibodies could be used as biomarker for pSS.
Methods: BALB/c mice were immunized with modified linear or cyclic peptides of the second extracellular loop of M3R.
Protein palmitoylation plays a significant role in a wide range of biological processes such as cell signal transduction, metabolism, apoptosis, and carcinogenesis. For high-throughput analysis of protein palmitoylation, approaches based on the acyl-biotin exchange or metabolic labeling of azide/alkynyl-palmitate analogs are commonly used. No palmitoylation antibody has been reported.

A total of 147 pediatric ALL patients diagnosed by our hospital between January 2011 and December 2014 were included in the case group, and 102 healthy people who received a physical examination during the same time frame in our hospital were included in the control group. DNA sequencing was applied for site determination and genotyping of the DPYD 85T > C, 2194G > A, 1156G > T, and IVS14 + 1G > A polymorphisms.

Ru complex, which could quench the fluorescence of QDs, preferred to bind with aptamer DNA and resulted in the fluorescence rise of QDs. When the aptamer DNA was incubated with the target first, it could not bind with Ru complex and the fluorescence of QDs was quenched.

Hearing loss is the main limitation of radiation therapy for vestibular schwannoma (VS), and identifying treatment options that minimize hearing loss are urgently needed. Treatment with bevacizumab is associated with tumor control and hearing improvement in neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2) patients; however, its effect is not durable and its mechanism of action on nerve function is unknown. We modeled the effect anti-VEGF therapy on neurological function in the sciatic nerve model and found that it improves neurological function by alleviating tumor edema, which may further improve results by decreasing muscle atrophy and increasing nerve regeneration.

In the present study, we investigated the vertical transitions and triplet excited states of [Ru(phen)2dppz](2+) (1), [Ru(phen)2dppzi](2+) (2) and [Ru(phen)2dppz-idzo](2+) (3) in the gas phase and aqueous solution, through time dependent-density functional theory (TDDFT). Based on the optimized (3)MLCT and (3)LLCT structures and energies, we found that the (3)MLCT state might be responsible for the emissions of the complexes.

In the present article, [Ru(phen)2dppzidzo](2+), a "light switch" ruthenium(ii) complex, was presented as a new monitoring probe for the aggregation of a tau R3 peptide, the third repeat unit of the tau microtubule-binding domain. Having little impact on the aggregation process, large fixed Stokes shift and small background luminescence made the complex a better probe for monitoring the aggregation process and quantitatively detecting tau filaments compared to thioflavin S, a commonly used fluorescent dye for staining neurofibrillary tangles and monitoring tau aggregation.

Importantly, these catalysts are air- and moisture-stable. Recovery of the catalyst after simple chromatographic separation for reuse in the model reaction was achieved; the catalyst can be recycled six times without loss of any enantioselectivity.

Complex 1 can emit luminescence in the absence and presence of G-quadruplexes DNA. However, with -CH3 substituent on the 2- and 9-positions of the phen ancillary ligand, no detectable luminescence is observed for complex 2 in any organic solvent or in the absence and/or presence of G-quadruplex DNA.

Study Design: A case-control study was conducted among 80 cases with OSF-associated OSCC and 80 controls with OSF but without clinically or histopathologically evident OSCC, recruited from January 2012 to October 2014 in the Xiangya Hospital, Hunan Province, Mainland China.
Polymorphic DNA G-quadruplex recognition has attracted great interest in recent years. The strong binding affinity and potential enantioselectivity of chiral [Ru(bpy)2 (L)](2+) (L=dipyrido[3,2-a:2',3'-c]phenazine, dppz-10,11-imidazolone; bpy=2,2'-bipyridine) prompted this investigation as to whether the two enantiomers, Δ and Λ, can show different effects on diverse structures with a range of parallel, antiparallel and mixed parallel/antiparallel G-quadruplexes. These studies provide a striking example of chiral-selective recognition of DNA G-quadruplexes.

An aequorin-based mast cell sensor was developed for rapid identification and detection of protein toxins.
