The aviation industry plays a crucial role in global trade and cultural exchange, but it faces significant challenges due to high fuel costs and environmental impacts. To achieve carbon neutrality, promoting the development of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) is essential, with projections indicating that 65% of emissions reductions in the aviation industry by 2050 will come from the use of SAF. Lignin, as an abundant renewable resource, has great potential for conversion into aviation fuel components.

Article Synopsis
  • Global warming poses a significant threat to ecosystems, particularly affecting the health of humans and domestic animals due to rising temperatures.
  • Heat stress in animals has become a major concern, especially in southern China, leading to issues like inflammation, low body weight, and appetite loss.
  • The review highlights how heat stress impacts the immune system, causes liver and intestinal damage, and activates harmful pathways such as oxidative stress and MAPK signaling, further exacerbating organ injury.

The pathological mechanisms of gastrointestinal disorders, including inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), in pigs are poorly understood. We report the induction of intestinal inflammation in heat-stressed (HS) pigs, fecal microbiota transplantation from pigs to mice, and explain the role of microorganisms in IBD. 24 adult pigs were subjected to HS (34 ± 1 °C; 75-85% relative humidity for 24h) while 24 control pigs (CP) were kept at 25 ± 3°C and the same humidity.
