Improving the bioconversion of phytosterols to 9α-hydroxy-4-androstene-3,17-dione by disruption of acyltransferase SucT and TmaT associated with the mycobacterial cell wall synthesis.

The bioconversion of low value-added phytosterols into high value-added 9α-hydroxy-4-androstene-3,17-dione (9-OHAD) in Mycolicibacterium neoaurum is a representative step in the steroid pharmaceutical industry. However, the complex mycobacterial cell walls with extremely low permeability and flowability greatly decrease the overall conversion efficiency. Herein, we preliminarily identified two key acyltransferases encoded by Mn_TmaT and Mn_SucT required for the proper synthesis of cell wall in mycobacteria and achieved a significant increase in cell permeability by disrupting them without affecting the cell wall structural stability.

[Caries experience and its correlation with caries activity of 4-year-old children in Miyun District of Beijing].

Objective: To investigate the prevalence of dental caries of 4-year-old children in Miyun District of Beijing by international caries detection and assessment system (ICDAS), to detect the caries activity Cariostat value and to analyze the correlation between the Cariostat value and dental caries.

Methods: Totally 815 children aged 4 years in 7 kindergartens in Miyun District of Beijing were recruited. The clinical examination of all children was conducted by one examiner using ICDAS.

Objectives: Certain rhythmic arterial pressure waves in humans and animals have been noticed for over one century. We found the novel and slowest arterial pressure waves in children following surgical repair for CHD, and examined their characteristics and clinical implications.

Methods: We enrolled 212 children with 22 types of CHD within postoperative 48 h.

Many studies have identified TLR4 as a distinctive member of the TLR family, capable of activating both the Myeloid differentiation factor 88-dependent signaling pathway (MyD88-dependent) and the TIR-domain-containing adaptor inducing IFN-β dependent signaling pathway (TRIF-dependent). Nevertheless, the role of TLR4 in Cephalopoda is still largely unexplored.

Intraoperative radiotherapy: An alternative to whole-breast external beam radiotherapy in the management of highly selective breast cancer: A SEER database analysis.

Objective: This study aimed to verify if intraoperative radiotherapy (IORT) can achieve the same survival outcome as whole-breast external beam radiotherapy (EBRT) in early breast cancer after breast-conserving surgery (BCS), and to explore the suitable candidates that can safely receive IORT after BCS.

Methods: Eligible post-BCS patients who received IORT or EBRT were included in the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) database from 2010 to 2018. Risk factors that affected 5-year overall survival (OS) or breast cancer specific survival (BCSS) were identified by Cox proportional hazards regression analysis.

Serum Cystatin C levels increase with increasing visceral fat area in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

The present study aimed to explore the association between serum cystatin C (Cys-C) levels and visceral fat area (VFA) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). A total of 208 previously diagnosed T2DM patients who visited our hospital from September 2019 to December 2021 were included and divided into three groups based on tertiles of Cys-C levels, namely, Groups C1, C2, and C3. The clinical data of the subjects were collected, biochemical parameters such as Cys-C levels were determined, and bioelectrical impedance analysis was applied to determine the VFA and subcutaneous fat area (SFA).

Background: Frontotemporal dementia (FTD) is a neurodegenerative disease with clinical, pathological, and genetic heterogeneity. FTD is receiving increasing attention because it is the second leading cause of early-onset dementia after Alzheimer's disease. Background: Patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) undergoing long-term levodopa therapy are prone to develop levodopa-induced dyskinesia (LID). Amantadine is the main drug recommended for the treatment of LID by current guidelines, but it is far from meeting clinical needs. Application-based big data development framework for health sciences libraries.

The study is a part of a student research project on performance-based evaluation of big data application in health sciences libraries. It presents a theoretical framework of the performance-based evaluation system for health institutes' libraries in the digital environment. The health sciences libraries' systematic approach was judged based on the five main components (data culture, organisational infrastructure, responsibilities, skills and technology competence) of big data analytics (BDA).
