Sorption and transport are important environmental behaviors of antibiotics in soils and can determine the fate of antibiotics in environments; however, limited relevant studies have been conducted on long-term manured soils. In this study, batch and repacked soil column experiments were conducted to examine the sorption and transport behavior of four veterinary antibiotics, including sulfamethazine (SMT), florfenicol (FFC), doxycycline (DOX), and enrofloxacin (ENR), in red soils, yellow soils, and calcareous soils with long-term amendment of chicken or pig manure collected in Zhejiang Province. The results showed that the sorption isothermal data of the four target antibiotics all conformed well to the linear and Freundlich models.

Mercury ion (Hg), a heavy metal cation with greater toxicity, is widely present in the ecological environment and has become a serious threat to human health and environmental safety. Currently, developing a solution to simultaneously visualize and monitor Hg in environmental samples, including water, soil, and plants, remains a great challenge. In this work, we created and synthesized a near-infrared fluorescent probe, BBN-Hg, and utilized Hg to trigger the partial cleavage of the carbon sulfate ester in BBN-Hg as a sensing mechanism, and the fluorescence intensity of BBN-Hg was significantly enhanced at 650 nm, thus realizing the visualization of Hg with good selectivity (detection limit, 53 nM).

Glutaraldehyde and CNE enhance the film's network structure by chemical bonding and hydrogen bonding, respectively. This results in improved surface smoothness, mechanical properties, and UV shielding ability of the film.

Heavy metals, including Hg, Cr and Cd, have always been a major issue in environmental pollution, leading to abnormal changes in the levels of biologically active molecules including Cys in plants, seriously affecting all aspects of the growth and development of plants. This makes it essential to develop a simple and practical method to study the potential impact of heavy metals on plants. In this paper, our research group has developed near-infrared fluorescent probe WRM-S, which has the advantages of fast response, sensitivity to Cys, and successfully applying it to cells and zebrafish.

Various controlling factors including PS dosages, initial pH, water-soil ratio, ratio of Fe, and FeO MNPs to PS were considered in both the Fe/PS system and the FeO MNPs/PS system. Results showed that the FeO MNP-activated PS system exhibited high processing efficiency owing to the gradual release of Fe.

This mechanism can ensure the normal secretion of bacterial metabolites and the stability of the biofilm microenvironment, providing protection for the formation of biofilms and the normal growth and reproduction of bacteria. Traditional Chinese medicine, capable of quorum sensing inhibition, can inhibit the formation of bacterial biofilms, reduce bacterial resistance, and enhance the anti-infection ability of antibiotics when combined with antibiotics.

However, its clinical use is constrained by its significant side effects. Among these, the development of cardiomyopathy, characterized by cardiac remodeling and eventual heart failure, stands as a major concern following DOX chemotherapy.

The aim of this meta-analysis was to estimate the overall prevalence of deer TB in mainland China and to assess possible associations between potential risk factors and the prevalence of deer tuberculosis.
Methodology: This study was searched in six databases in Chinese and English, respectively (1981 to December 2023).
Background: Endoscopic evaluation in diagnosing and managing ulcerative colitis (UC) is becoming increasingly important. Several endoscopic scoring systems have been established, including the Ulcerative Colitis Endoscopic Index of Severity (UCEIS) score and Mayo Endoscopic Subscore (MES). Furthermore, the Toronto Inflammatory Bowel Disease Global Endoscopic Reporting (TIGER) score for UC has recently been proposed; however, its clinical value remains unclear.

The subaperture array of ESPIA is configured as equi-spaced concentric rings. The subaperture beams are coupled and transmitted to the photonic integrated circuit through fiber optic channels and paired into baselines by the interferometric beam combination.

We investigated the role of MSTN in the smooth muscle of the penile corpus cavernosum of pigs using MSTN homozygous mutant knockout (KO) and wild type (WT) pigs (n = 4 in each group). The mean of area fraction (%) of smooth muscle in the penile corpus cavernosum was 65.

Ageing is closely associated with a progressive decline in organ function, and the prevalence of tissue fibrosis dramatically increases with age. Despite the heavy clinical and economic burden of organ fibrosis as the population ages, to date, there is a paucity of therapeutic strategies that are specifically designed to slow fibrosis.
