Monitoring the spread of infectious disease is essential to design and adjust the interventions timely for the prevention of the epidemic outbreak and safeguarding the public health. The governments have generally adopted the incidence-based statistical method to estimate the time-varying effective reproduction number Rt and evaluate the transmission ability of epidemics. However, this method exhibits biases arising from the reported incidence data and assumes the generation interval distribution which is not available at the early stage of epidemic.

The urgent need for new medications that regulate CYP2E1, CASP3, Nrf2, HO-1, TLR2, TLR4, STAT3, and NF-κB activities is paramount for the treatment of drug-induced liver injury (DILI), particularly from acetaminophen (APAP). Previous studies have suggested that platycosides of Platycodonis Radix exhibits hepatoprotective properties against APAP-induced liver injury (AILI), and their serum metabolites may be the effective agents. As the identify the serum metabolites of platycosides is a huge challenge, the mechanism whether platycosides exert effects through the serum metabolites regulating those targets still remain unclear.

Soil cadmium (Cd) pollution has emerged as a substantial environmental challenge globally, hampering crop production and endangering human health. Here, we found that photoreceptor phytochromes (PHYs) were involved in regulating Cd tolerance in tobacco. Compared to wildtype (WT) plants, phytochrome-defective mutants (phyA, phyB, phyAB) displayed Cd sensitive phenotype, and had a higher reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation and malondialdehyde content.

However, their practical application is significantly impeded by several serious issues that arise at the cathode-electrolyte interface, such as interface structure degradation including the uneven deposition of LiS, unstable cathode-electrolyte interphase (CEI) layer and intermediate polysulfide shuttle effect. Thus, an optimized cathode-electrolyte interface along with optimized electrodes is required for overall improvement.

Here, we propose a universal interfacial reconstruction strategy based on converting residual alkali to tunnel phase NaMnO for addressing the above mentioned issue simultaneously, using O3 NaNiFeMnO@2 mol % NaMnO (NaNFM@NMO) as the prototype material. The optimized material exhibits an initial capacity and energy density comparable with lithium-ion batteries.

However, due to their special structures and relatively large sizes, the catalytic asymmetric synthesis of inherently chiral calixarenes is challenging with very limited examples available. Here, we present an efficient method for the enantioselective synthesis of inherently chiral sulfur-containing calix[4]arenes through the desymmetrizing electrophilic sulfenylation of calix[4]arenes.

However, inherently high C-H bond energy necessitates a high temperature during dehydrogenation, and the ubiquity of C - H bonds in molecules and small differences in their bond energies hinder the selectivity of dehydrogenation. Here, we report a room-temperature cyclodehydrogenation reaction on Au(111) via radical addition of open-shell resonance structures and demonstrate that radical addition significantly decreases cyclodehydrogenation temperature and further improves the chemoselectivity of dehydrogenation.

However, the prognostic value of DE in the genetic subtyping era and potential mechanisms remain to be explored. We enrolled 246 DLBCL patients diagnosed between December 2021 and September 2023 in a Jiangsu Province Hospital cohort and included 930 DLBCL patients from three published studies in an external cohort.

To ensure the privacy of the original image and enable feature extraction without decryption operations, we employ a secure neural network for feature extraction during the index construction stage of encrypted images. Additionally, we introduce a dynamic authenticatable ciphertext retrieval algorithm to enhance system flexibility and security by enabling users to quickly and flexibly retrieve authorized images.

However, the dynamic evolution of lattice oxygen during the reaction poses significant challenges for the stability of high-valence metal sites, particularly in high-current-density water-splitting systems. Here, we have successfully constructed Co-O-Fe catalytic active motifs in cobalt-iron Prussian blue analogs (CoFe-PBA) through oxygen plasma bombardment, effectively activating lattice oxygen reactivity while sustaining robust stability.

However, due to the widespread expression of MUC16 in cancer, its specificity and sensitivity as a target are poor, which severely limits its clinical application. In recent years, various studies have shown that the clinical application potential of MUC16/CA125 has been greatly improved.

1,3-Butadiene (BD) is a carcinogenic air pollutant. N-acetyl-S-(4-hydroxy-2-buten-1-yl)-L-cysteine (MHBMA3 or 4HBeMA), an urinary BD metabolite with unspecified configuration, is considered the most sensitive BD biomarker and has been used in routine biomonitoring since 2012. However, two issues remain unaddressed: why its concentrations are unusually high relative to other urinary BD biomarkers and why some authors reported no detection of the biomarker whereas other authors readily quantitated it.

Multiple methods have been developed to discriminate hvKp strains from classical (cKp) strains, such as the presence of candidate genes (, -344, , and ), high level of siderophore production, hypermucoviscosity phenotype, Although the string test is commonly used to confirm the hypermucoviscosity of strains, it is a method lacking rigidity and accuracy. Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) coupled with machine learning algorithms has been widely used in discriminating bacterial pathogens with different phenotypes.

(Pro)renin receptor (PRR) in performs as ligands in the autophagic process, and its function in diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM) is not fully understood. We investigated whether PRR promotes ferroptosis through the nuclear receptor coactivator 4 (NCOA 4)-mediated ferritinophagy pathway and thus contributes to DCM.
