High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) is a key analytical technique that is used in a number of fields. Improving the separation efficiency, stability, and universality of HPLC has been a continuing analytical-chemistry focus. In chromatographic separation, factors such as the composition and ratio of the mobile phase, the type of stationary phase, and the dimensions of the chromatographic column significantly affect the separation efficiency.

Comparison of different staging methods for COPD in predicting outcomes.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is commonly staged according to the percentage of predicted forced expiratory volume in 1 s (FEV % pred), but other methods have been proposed. In this study we compared the performance of seven staging methods in predicting outcomes.We retrospectively studied 296 COPD outpatients.

Sleep apnea is associated with an increased risk of mood disorders: a population-based cohort study.

Purpose: The symptoms of sleep apnea, such as sleep fragmentation and oxygen desaturation, might be risk factors for subsequent mood disorder (MD), but associations between sleep apnea and MD remain unclear. This nationwide population-based study thus aimed to identify the risk of MD in patients with vs. without sleep apnea.
