Organ-on-a-chip (OOC) devices mimic human organs, which can be used for many different applications, including drug development, environmental toxicology, disease models, and physiological assessment. Image data acquisition and analysis from these chips are crucial for advancing research in the field. In this study, we propose a label-free morphology imaging platform compatible with the small airway-on-a-chip system.

To ascertain the influence of prolonged planting on the distribution and accumulation of heavy metals in protected vegetable soil, samples from typical vegetable planting areas in Shenyang were gathered to evaluate the distribution features of Cr, Ni, Cu, Zn, Cd, and Pb in such soil. The Hakanson index, heavy metal risk assessment standard, and secondary phase to primary ratio methods were employed to evaluate the ecological hazard of soil in the research area, while the human health risk model was utilized to evaluate the health of inhabitants. The findings indicated that:① The amount of heavy metals Zn, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb, and Cd in the topsoil (0~20 cm) of protected vegetable land in the study region decreased successively, and the content of heavy metals in the topsoil increased with the extension of planting years, of which Cd, Zn, and Cu increased most obviously, with maximum increases of 219%, 189%, and 134%, respectively.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small noncoding RNAs of 18-25 bases. miRNAs are also important new biomarkers that can be used for disease diagnosis in the future. Studies have shown that miR-124 levels are significantly elevated during acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and play a key role in the cardiovascular system.

Chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS) is a common pelvic pain syndrome in males, seriously affecting patients' quality of life. For a long time, CP/CPPS has been considered a complex and variable disease, and its pathogenesis remains incompletely understood. Currently, CP/CPPS is believed to be a group of diseases characterized by pelvic pain or discomfort, urinary abnormalities, and other symptoms, each with its unique etiology, clinical characteristics, and outcomes, likely resulting from the action of pathogens or (and) certain non-infectious factors.

Stress-adaptive mechanisms enabling cancer cells to survive under glucose deprivation remain elusive. N-methyladenosine (mA) modification plays important roles in determining cancer cell fate and cellular stress response to nutrient deficiency. However, whether mA modification functions in the regulation of cancer cell survival under glucose deprivation is unknown.

Background: Antidepressant response in adults with major depressive disorder (MDD) is probably influenced by personality dimensions. However, personality dimensions in depression and their association with antidepressant treatment in adolescents are relatively unknown. We sought to investigate whether personality traits (PTs) can influence antidepressant treatment response in adolescents with depression.

Single-emission luminescence sensors are less than satisfactory for complex systems due to their susceptibility to environmental disturbances. Lanthanum-based metal-organic frameworks (Ln-MOFs) with highly stable ratiometric dual-emission are regarded as promising luminescence probes owing to their fascinating ligand-to-metal energy transfer behaviors (also known as the antenna effect). Herein, we report the synthesis of a pair of isostructural europium-based MOFs (termed and ) by utilizing two -shaped tetracarboxylate linkers, 4,4',4″,4‴-benzene-2,3,5,6-tetrayl-tetrabenzoate (BTEB) and 4,4',4″,4‴-pyrazine-2,3,5,6-tetrayl-tetrabenzoate (BTTB).

Interfacial charge transfer on the surface of heterogeneous photocatalysts dictates the efficiency of reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation and therefore the efficiency of aerobic oxidation reactions. Reticular chemistry in metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) allows for the rational design of donor-acceptor pairs to optimize interfacial charge-transfer kinetics. Herein, we report a series of isostructural -topology Ni-MOFs (termed , , , and ) with linearly bridged bipyrazoles as organic linkers.

Background: Prevention of enteral feeding interruption (EFI) improves clinical outcomes of critically ill intensive care unit (ICU) patients. This leads to shorter ICU stays and thereby lowers healthcare costs. This study compared the cost of early use of semi-elemental formula (SEF) in ICU vs standard polymeric formula (SPF) under the Ministry of Health (MOH) system in Malaysia.

Objective To investigate the influencing factors and establish a model predicting the performance of needle visualization in fine-needle aspiration (FNA) of thyroid nodules. Methods This study prospectively included 175 patients who underwent FNA of thyroid nodules in the Department of Ultrasound in China-Japan Friendship Hospital and compared the display of the needle tips in the examination of 199 thyroid nodules before and after the application of needle visualization. We recorded the location, the positional relationship with thyroid capsule, ultrasonic characteristics, and the distribution of the soft tissue strip structure at the puncture site of the nodules with unclear needle tips display before using needle visualization.
