Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a serious public health problem worldwide. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether Yunnan medicine Jiangzhi ointment (YMJO) can relieve the progression of NAFLD and to elucidate the specific mechanism involved. A NAFLD model was established in high-fat diet (HFD)-induced SD rats and free fatty acid (FFA)-induced BRL 3A cells.

Here, a cyclohexylidene scaffold was conceptualized as a chiral source for developing higher performance CPL materials in term of simultaneously enhanced quantum yields (PLQYs) and dissymmetry factor. It was found that the axially chiral scaffold attached with a cyanostilbene showed a pathway dependent assembly route to form chiral luminescent liquid crystals and crystal upon fast and slow cooling, respectively.

Tripartite motif-containing 21 (TRIM21), an E3 ubiquitin ligase, has been studied for its role in acute kidney injury, but its role in renal fibrosis has not been reported. We analyzed public RNA-seq data of unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO), ischemia-reperfusion injury (I/R), and aristolochic acid (AA)-induced renal fibrosis and found that TRIM21 expression was significantly elevated in fibrotic kidneys, which was verified by Western blot results corresponding to the mouse models.

A key aspect in realizing practical applications of ECFP lies in the development of cost-effective, high-performance reactive electrochemical membranes (REM). In this work, a novel carbon-based REM (MCM-30) was prepared by coating the low-cost coal-based carbon membrane (CM) with MnOOH nano-catalyst through a simple and environmentally friendly electrochemical deposition method.

Methods: This multicenter retrospective study screened patients with uICC who underwent TACE in combination with PD-1 inhibitors and lenvatinib between January 2019 and June 2023. Tislelizumab or camrelizumab (200 mg) was intravenously administered every three weeks.
Porous membranes with superhydrophilicity and underwater superoleophobicity have attracted considerable attention for efficient oil/water emulsion separation. However, such membranes fail to remediate severe oil contamination in long-term applications and exhibit a serious water flux decline. Herein, a universal combination strategy integrating the high coverage of a mussel-inspired sticky interlayer and a double rigid cellulose nanofiber-amorphous calcium carbonate (CNF-ACC) composite outer layer is proposed to prepare a superhydrophilic coating surface with superior anti-oil-fouling properties on diverse substrates.

One of the key mechanisms of resistance to beta-lactam antibiotics is the production of beta-lactamase enzymes, which poses a dilemma for clinicians in selecting antibiotics when faced with resistant bacterial infections. However, research on the reversal of bacterial resistance is limited.

Methods: This cross-sectional study distributed questionnaires to collect data.
Circulating tumour cells (CTCs) and CTC clusters are considered metastatic precursors due to their ability to seed distant metastasis. However, navigating the bloodstream presents a significant challenge for CTCs, as they must endure fluid shear forces and resist detachment-induced anoikis. Consequently, while a large number of cells from the primary tumour may enter the circulation, only a tiny fraction will result in metastasis.

An unbiased approach was employed to identify water-soluble small molecules with mitogenic activity on choroidal EC. We identified adenosine diphosphate (ADP) as a candidate, following biochemical purification from mouse EL4 lymphoma extracts.

Remote ischemic conditioning (RIC) as a promising neuroprotective treatment may improve clinical outcomes in this population. This study aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of RIC in patients with IVT.

However, as the aza-analog of sulfoxide electrophiles, the asymmetric issues about electrophilic sulfinimidoyl species remain largely unexplored and represent a significant challenge in sulfur stereochemistry. Herein, we exhibit an anionic stereogenic-at-cobalt(III) complex-catalyzed asymmetric synthesis of chiral sulfinamides via chiral sulfinimidoyl iodide intermediates.

Meanwhile, transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) is an effective method for the local control of the HCC. The study compared the clinical benefit and safety between TACE with camrelizumab-rivoceranib and camrelizumab-rivoceranib alone for Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC)-C HCC patients.

Methods: This multicenter retrospective study enrolled advanced HCC undergoing TACE+TP or TP from January 2019 to June 2023 at three hospitals in China. The primary outcomes were time to progression of the ALBI grade and change in ALBI score between the initial baseline and the final assessment point available, the secondary outcomes consisted of overall survival (OS) as well as progression-free survival (PFS).
Chronic wound poses a serious risk to diabetic patients, primarily due to damaged skin microvasculature and prolonged inflammation at the wound site. Mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) therapy utilizing microgels as a cell delivery system has shown promise in promoting wound healing by enhancing cell viability and the secretion of bioactive factors. Retaining sufficient MSCs at injury sites is crucial for optimal therapeutic outcomes.

We aimed to validate a test combining GFAP (glial fibrillary acidic protein) and UCH-L1 (ubiquitin C-terminal hydrolase-L1) to indicate the absence of HT after IVT.
Methods: We prospectively enrolled consecutive patients with stroke treated with IVT from 16 hospitals.
During chemical reactions, especially for electrocatalysis and electrosynthesis, the electric field is the most central driving force to regulate the reaction process. However, due to the difficulty of quantitatively measuring the electric field effects caused at the microscopic level, the regulation of electrocatalytic reactions by electric fields has not been well digitally understood yet. Herein, we took the infrared/Raman spectral signals of CO molecules as descriptors to quantitatively predict the effects of different electric fields on the catalytic properties.
