Methanol, as a non-edible feedstock, offers a promising sustainable alternative to sugar-based substrates in biochemical production. Despite progress in engineering methanol assimilation in nonmethylotrophs, the full transformation into methanol-dependent synthetic methylotrophs remains a formidable challenge. Here, moving beyond the conventional rational design principle, we engineered a synthetic methylotrophic through genome rearrangement and adaptive laboratory evolution.

The C1 resource is widely considered because of its abundance and affordability. In the context of extensive utilization of C1 resources by methylotrophic microorganisms, especially for methanol, formaldehyde is an important intermediate metabolite that is at the crossroads of assimilation and dissimilation pathways. However, formaldehyde is an exceedingly reactive compound that can form covalent cross-linked complexes with amine and thiol groups in cells, which causes irreversible damage to the organism.

Evidences are found on morphological characters, the mitochondrial marker COI and significant geographic isolation to clearly distinguished the new species from its closest relative, L.

However, the intricate connection between them and the underlying mechanisms involved in lipid digestion and absorption remain largely unclear. This study shows that after 12 weeks of HFD feeding, mice exhibit two distinct metabolic phenotypes with significant differences in gut microbiota composition.

Previous studies show m6A is a key regulator for viral infection and immune response. However, whether there is a pathogen stimulus-dependent m6A regulation in invertebrate shrimp has not been studied.

Methods: Through the analysis of bulk RNA-sequencing (bulk RNA-seq) and single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) data, the expression of KIF20A and its relationship with diagnosis, prognosis, and the immune microenvironment were examined. The association between KIF20A and the malignant progression and metastasis of HCC was confirmed through and experiments.

Purpose: Perineural invasion (PNI) is an independent risk factor for poor prognosis in gastric cancer (GC) patients. This study aimed to develop and validate predictive models based on CT imaging and clinical features to predict PNI status in GC patients.
Methods: This retrospective study included 291 GC patients (229 in the training cohort and 62 in the validation cohort) who underwent gastrectomy between January 2020 and August 2022.

With the improvement of environmental protection requirements in offshore oil and gas exploration, there is a great demand to find environmentally friendly surfactants for cementing preflush fluids. In the present paper, the application potential of three biosurfactants of rhamnolipid, lipopeptide, and sophorolipid in the preflush fluid was evaluated through a series of experiments. The experiments studied the interfacial tension (IFT) of the biosurfactants, resistance to temperature, salt resistance (sodium chloride and sea salt), and the influences of the studied biosurfactants on the rheological compatibility and capabilities to convert the wettability of the formation from oil-wet to water-wet, mud cake removal efficiency, and to improve the interfacial bonding properties of the preflush fluid.

Background: Dental extraction is the most common oral surgery, but it leads to the remodelling of the socket, such that an implant is required for repair. We performed meta-analysis to determine whether leucocyte- and platelet-rich fibrin (L-PRF) improves dental extraction.
Material And Methods: Following a search of Scopus, Web of science, ProQuest and PubMed, six relevant studies were included (239 patients treated with L-PRF after dental extraction).

Introduction: Photodynamic therapy (PDT) has attracted increasing attention in the clinical treatment of epidermal and luminal tumors. However, the PDT efficacy in practice is severely impeded by tumor hypoxia and the adverse factors associated with hydrophobic photosensitizers (PSs), including low delivery capacity, poor photoactivity and limited ROS diffusion. In this study, Pt nanozymes decorated two-dimensional (2D) porphyrin metal-organic framework (MOF) nanosheets (PMOF@HA) were fabricated and investigated to conquer the obstacles of PDT against hypoxic tumors.

RNF26 is an important E3 ubiquitin ligase that has been associated with poor prognosis in bladder cancer. However, the underlying mechanisms of RNF26 in bladder cancer tumorigenesis are not fully understood. In the present study, we found that RNF26 expression level was significantly upregulated in the bladder cancer tissues, and higher RNF26 expression is closely associated with poorer prognosis, lower immune cell infiltration, and more sensitive to immune checkpoint blockade drugs and chemotherapy drugs, including cisplatin, VEGFR-targeting drugs and MET-targeting drugs.

We investigated which habitat and environmental variables impact the detectability of non-volant nocturnal arboreal mammals across varying habitat types at two tropical islands with different levels of anthropogenic development in Malaysia. We conducted night transect line and point count surveys following pre-existing paths in Penang Island and Langkawi Island between 2019 and 2020.

L-Phenylalanine (L-Phe) is an important aromatic amino acid, which has been widely used in food, health care products, medicine and other fields. Based on the relatively mature microbial biosynthesis process, a variety of L-phenylalanine-derived compounds have attracted more and more attentions owing to their extensively potential applications in the fields of food, medicine, spices, cosmetics, and pesticides. However, the challenge of biosynthesis of L-phenylalanine-derived compounds remains the issue of low production and productivity.

Tunnel Oxide Passivating Contacts (TOPcon) battery in the photovoltaic industry generates high ammonium wastewater during the production process, the adaptability of using the anaerobic ammonia oxidation (Anammox) process for photovoltaic wastewater (PVW) treatment is a research hotspot. Based on the analysis of photovoltaic wastewater quality, the effectiveness of nitrogen removal, sludge characteristics and microbial communities were examined. The results showed that when the influent NH-N concentration of PVW was lower than 150 mg·L, the nitrogen removal efficiency (NRE) was almost 100 %.

For now, the examination of CD8 infiltration levels relies on endoscopic biopsy, which is invasive and unsuitable for longitude assessment during anti-tumor therapy.
Purpose: This work aims to develop and validate a noninvasive workflow based on contrast-enhanced CT (CECT) images to evaluate the CD8+ T-cell infiltration profiles of GC.
The pretreatment of lignocellulosic biomass with acid generates phenolic and furanyl compounds that function as toxins by inhibiting microbial growth and metabolism. Therefore, it is necessary to detoxify acid-pretreated lignocellulosic biomass for better utilization. Among the various detoxification methods that are available, biodetoxification offers advantages that include mild reaction conditions and low energy consumption.
