Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the relationship between depressive symptoms and social participation among frail older adults in China, using data from participants aged 60 and older in the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS).
  • Researchers categorized social engagement into five subgroups and found that those who engaged in board games and extensive social interaction had lower depressive symptoms compared to the socially isolated.
  • Results showed that females in rural areas with lower incomes and less sleep had more severe depression, and those who moved from social isolation to being helpful over three years reported increased depressive symptoms.

Peach vinegar is a popular condiment that is thought to have various health benefits. However, the low levels of quercetin and complex detection environment in peach vinegar make it difficult to detect using traditional methods. Electrochemical detection is a promising solution because it is sensitive, inexpensive, and provides real-time results.

Background: The association between anemia and depression has been demonstrated in previous studies, but it's still unclear whether depressive symptoms as a hazard factor for anemia. The findings of a large-scale cross-sectional and longitudinal examination of such an association of among the middle-aged and elderly individuals in China were presented in our study.

Methods: The data from China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study in 2011 and 2015 were evaluated.

Tiagabine hydrochloride (TGB) is a widely used anticonvulsive drug for the treatment of epilepsy. To better understand the interactions of TGB with plasma proteins, human serum albumin (HSA) and bovine serum albumin (BSA) were selected as model proteins. TGB slightly increased thermal stability of the proteins as confirmed by VP-capillary differential scanning calorimetric (DSC) measurements.

Metandienone (MET) is an exogenous anabolic androgenic steroid. The interaction between MET and human serum albumin (HSA) was investigated by molecular modeling and different optical techniques. There was no possibility of energy transfer, and the fluorescence quenching of HSA induced by MET was mainly due to the complex formation.

Objective: To prepare pulsed-release tablet (PTS) according to the rhythm of coronary heart disease based on efficacy material and the mechanism of compound Danshen.

Method: PTS were achieved by coating the core which contains drugs, CMS-Na, lactose, succinic acid and MCC with separation layer (Eudragit RL), swelling layer (HPMC E5), and controlled-release membrane (Eudragit RS-RL-EC).

Result: The results of in vitro experiments showed that no difference was observed among the profiles of Danshensu, protocatechuic aldehyde, ginsenoside Rg1, Rb1, notoginsenoside R1 release from the two-step release system.
