Keloid scarring is a fibroproliferative disease of the skin, which can significantly impact one's quality of life through cosmetic concerns, physical discomfort (itchy; painful), restricted movement, and psychological distress. Owing to the poorly understood pathogenesis of keloids and their high recurrence rate, the efficacy of keloid treatment remains unsatisfactory, particularly in patients susceptible to multiple keloids. We conducted fecal metagenomic analyzes and both untargeted and targeted plasma metabolomics in patients with multiple keloids (MK, = 56) and controls with normal scars (NS, = 60); tissue-untargeted metabolomics (MK, = 35; NS, = 32), tissue-targeted metabolomics (MK, = 41; NS, = 36), and single-cell sequencing analyzes (GSE163973).

Some essential information on gut bacterial profiles and their unique contributions to food digestion in wood-feeding termites (WFT) and soil-feeding termites (SFT) is still inadequate. The feeding type of termites is hypothesized to influence their gut bacterial composition and its functionality in degrading lignocellulose or other organic chemicals. This could potentially provide alternative approaches for the degradation of some recalcitrant environmental chemicals.

The chemical components of LCB render them a substrate valuable for biofuel production. It is hard to dissolve LCB resources for biofuel production because the lignin, cellulose, and hemicellulose parts stick together rigidly.

Public databases were used to identify the key gene of KD. Enrichment analysis and immune cell infiltration (ICI) analysis revealed its functional and immune characteristics.

Clinical samples were collected from HCC and adjacent tissue with different degree of liver fibrosis. HCC cells were co-cultured with LX-2 cell by Transwell system or cultured with conditioned medium (CM), which was collected from LX-2.

However, the biochemical mechanisms of helper NLR activation by upstream sensor NLRs remain poorly understood. Here, we show that the coiled-coil helper NLR NRC2 from Nicotiana benthamiana accumulates in vivo as a homodimer that converts into a higher-order oligomer upon activation by its upstream virus disease resistance protein Rx.

Understanding of the molecular responses of plants to different B supply levels would be of significance in crop improvement and cultivation practices to deal with the problem.

Plastic pollution, a global problem, disrupts the ecological balance and endangers various life forms. Efforts to combat plastic pollution are underway, with a promising avenue being biological degradation facilitated by certain insects and their symbiotic gut microorganisms, particularly bacteria.

We selected participants using a method called random cluster sampling, where caregivers from 17 different medical and nursing care facilities across seven districts in Hangzhou were chosen. We collected 492 valid questionnaires and conducted interviews with 150 people.

Despite decades of investigation, understanding the diversity, community structure, and functional profiles of bacterial symbionts within specific gut regions, particularly the foregut and midgut of , remains largely elusive. In light of this knowledge gap, our efforts focused on elucidating the diversity, community composition and functions of symbiotic bacteria inhabiting the foregut, midgut, and hindgut of via metagenomics.

While the aerobic degradation mechanism of lignin has been well-documented, the anaerobic degradation mechanism is still largely elusive. In this work, a versatile facultative anaerobic lignin-degrading bacterium, TL3, was isolated from a termite gut, and was found to metabolize a variety of carbon sources and produce a single kind or multiple kinds of acids.

However, the production of continuous aerogel fibers from biomass with sufficient strength and radial elasticity remains a significant challenge. Herein, continuous gel fibers were produced via wet spinning using agarose (AG) as the matrix, 2,2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl radical-oxidized cellulose nanofibers (TOCNs) as the reinforcing agent, and no other chemical additives by utilizing the gelling properties of AG.

A farnesoid X receptor (FXR) was recently reported to play a key role in hepatic-intestinal circulation, intestinal metabolism, immunity, and microbial regulation, and thus, it becomes a promising therapeutic target for IBD. In this study, we identified a series of nonbile acid FXR agonists, in which 33 novel compounds were designed and synthesized by the structure-based drug design strategy from our previously identified hit compound.

In this study, we conducted an outdoor incubation experiment to investigate the effects of elevated temperature on Chl a, photosynthetic carbon fixation and the composition of plankton communities in the surface seawater around Pingtan Island, the northwest Taiwan Strait in Autumn 2022. After 3-4 days of incubation, elevated temperature (1-4 °C higher than ambient temperature) led to a decrease in Chl a concentration across all three stations, did not result in significant increases in the particulate organic carbon (POC) and nitrogen (PON) concentrations in seawater with high nitrate concentrations, whereas increased POC and PON concentrations in nitrate-limited seawater.
