Advanced core-shell hollow carbon nanofibers for ion and electron accessibility in sodium ion batteries.

One-dimensional core-shell hollow carbon nanofibers (HCNFs) have been synthesized by coaxial electrospinning, deacetylation and carbonization, which exhibit multi-surface properties that enhance electrolyte infiltration and facilitate ion/electron transport. The nitrogen-doped hard carbon outer shell compensates for the low conductivity of amorphous carbon, and the inner core carbon supports the stability of core-shell hollow structures. This unique structure ensures the accessibility of electrons/ions during electrochemical reactions and contributes to the superior rate performance of HCNFs.

Capecitabine or Capecitabine Plus Oxaliplatin Versus Fluorouracil Plus Cisplatin in Definitive Concurrent Chemoradiotherapy for Locally Advanced Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma (CRTCOESC): A Multicenter, Randomized, Open-Label, Phase 3 Trial.

Purpose: This phase 3 trial aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of capecitabine or capecitabine plus oxaliplatin (XELOX) with those of fluorouracil plus cisplatin (PF) in definitive concurrent chemoradiotherapy (DCRT) for inoperable locally advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC).

Methods: Patients were randomly assigned to receive two cycles of capecitabine, XELOX, or PF along with concurrent intensity-modulated radiation therapy. Patients in each arm were again randomly assigned to receive two cycles of consolidation chemotherapy or not.

Utilizing the photothermal effect and micro-electric field of electrocatalysts is a promising approach to promote the sluggish OER. Herein, to reveal the relationship of the photothermal effect and its induced micro-electric field with OER performance, NiS coupled NiFe(OH) on nickel foam (NiS@NiFe(OH)/NF) is synthesized and subjected to the OER under near-infrared (NIR) light.

Regulation of the surface activity of carbon anodes for rationalization of potassium storage.

The gradient temperature was manipulated to construct hollow irregular carbon spheres with regulated intrinsic defects and surface area targeting favorable potassium storage. An enlarged surface area, increased intrinsic defects, and superior conductivity induced more surface-active interfaces. These actions facilitated a high reversible capacity as well as excellent cycling stability.

Ultrasound-targeted microbubble destruction (UTMD) has been a promising noninvasive tool for organ- or tissue-specific gene or drug delivery. This study aimed to explore the function of F-box protein 11 (FBXO11), an E3 ubiquitin ligase, in the development of pancreatic cancer (PCa). Differentially expressed genes in PCa were identified using the GSE62452 and GSE28735 datasets, and FBXO11 was significantly highly expressed in PCa.

Mucoadhesive guargum hydrogel inter-connected chitosan-g-polycaprolactone micelles for rifampicin delivery.

Natural polymer guar gum has one of the highest viscosities in water solution and hence, these are significantly used in pharmaceutical applications. Guar gum inter-connected micelles as a new carrier has been developed for poor water soluble rifampicin drug. The hydrogel inter-connected micelle core was formulated as a hydrophilic inner and hydrophobic outer core by using guar gum/chitosan/polycaprolactone and the carrier interaction with rifampicin was confirmed by FT-IR.

Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is widely regarded as one of the most lethal types of cancer around the world. Targeting of miR-150 on Gli1 gene to inhibit proliferation and cell cycle of esophageal carcinoma EC9706.

Objective: Glioma-associated oncogene homolog 1 (Gli1) in Hedgehog signal pathway regulates Cyclin D1 expression, cell cycle or proliferation modulation. Esophageal cancer patients had significantly elevated Gli1 expression, which is related with survival and prognosis. It has been demonstrated that the level of miR-150 was decreased in esophageal cancer patients compared to normal control.

Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play critical and complicated roles in the regulation of various biological processes, including chromatin modification, transcription and post-transcriptional processing. Interestingly, some lncRNAs serve as miRNA "sponges" that inhibit interaction with miRNA targets in post-transcriptional regulation. We constructed a putative competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) network by integrating lncRNA, miRNA and mRNA expression based on high-throughput RNA sequencing and microarray data to enable a comparison of the SHEE and SHEEC cell lines.

A case of gastric adenocarcinoma metastasis to the esophagus possibly caused by gastroscopy or gastric reflux.

Recurrence after curative resection for gastric cancer is high, the pattern of recurrence include haematogenous metastasis, peritoneal metastasis, lymph node metastasis, and local recurrence, respectively. Here we report a case with local recurrence at the beginning, and subsequent metastasis to the esophagus three month following gastroscopy. Biopsy of the nodule in the upper esophagus was taken, pathology showed the adenocarcinoma of gastric origin.

Evaluation of combined argon plasma coagulation and Savary Bougienage for the relief of anastomotic-stenosis after esophageal squamous cancer surgery.

Background: Several endoscopic dilation techniques have been reported for treatment of anastomotic-stenosis of esophageal cancer, but the high incidence of dysphagia has remained unchanged. The aim of this study was to compare the effect of Argon Plasma Coagulation (APC) combined with Savary Bougienage (SB) compared to APC alone or SB alone for anastomotic-stenosis after radical operation for squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus.

Methods: Patients with anastomotic-stenosis that was diagnosed for the first time following esophageal squamous cell carcinoma resection surgery were randomly assigned to undergo APC combined with SB, APC alone, or SB alone.

Cutaneous metastasis of gastric cardia adenocarcinoma in a patient: a case report.

A large proportion of gastric cardia adenocarcinoma (GCA) present initially in an advanced stage in China. Skin metastasis of primary GCA rarely occurs and the incidence of it is still unclear yet. Here we report one case of skin metastasis from GCA in a 58-year-old male patient who underwent gastric cardia resection in 2002 and did not undergo chemotherapy.

Experimental observation of vector solitons in a highly birefringent cavity of ytterbium-doped fiber laser.

We report on the first experimental observation of dark-bright and dark-dark vector solitons in a highly birefringent cavity of all-normal-dispersion ytterbium-doped fiber laser. With the usage of different length of polarization maintaining fibers in the cavity, totally four types of vector solitons with different features were observed.
