Although many genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have confirmed the negative associations between rs401681[T] / rs402710[T] in the Cleft lip and cleft palate transmembrane protein 1 (CLPTM1L) region and lung cancer (LC) susceptibility in Caucasian and Asian populations, some other studies haven't found these negative associations. The purpose of this study is to clarify the associations between them and LC, as well as the differences in these associations between patients of different ethnicities (Caucasians and Asians), LC subtypes and smoking status. Relevant literatures published before July 7, 2023 in PubMed, EMbase, Web of Science, MEDLINE were searched through the Internet.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study focuses on the G allele variant of TERT-CLPTM1L rs4975616, which is linked to a decreased risk of lung cancer (LC), exploring variations in this association across different ethnicities (Caucasians and Asians) and other factors like LC subtypes and smoking status.
  • - Research included a comprehensive analysis of literature published up to July 2023, using statistical methods to evaluate and visualize the data, including how results held up across different demographics and potential biases.
  • - Findings revealed that the G allele was negatively associated with the risk of LC, with a stronger association observed in Caucasians compared to Asians and consistent negative associations in both smokers and non-smokers among Caucasians

At present, the angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) I/D polymorphism was considered to be associated to the pathogenesis of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). However, the association between it and the risk of COPD in different ethnic groups is still unclear. The purpose of this study is to conduct an updated meta-analysis of the association between them; collect literatures published before 10 February 2023 by searching PubMed, Embase, MEDLINE, CBM, CNKI, Wanfang, and VIP Chinese scientific databases; and display the analysis results by drawing forest plots.

Background: Danhong injection, a compound injection of Chinese herbal medicine, has been widely used in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) at present as an adjuvant treatment. However, the clinical efficacy and molecular mechanism of IPF are still unclear. This study will evaluate and explore the clinical efficacy and molecular mechanism of Danhong injection in the treatment of IPF.

Objective: Randomized controlled trials(RCTs) of multiple drugs for Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis(IPF) have been reported and achieved a certain degree of efficacy, however, the difference in safety and efficacy of them for IPF is not yet well understood. The aim of this network meta-analysis is to assess their safety and efficacy in the treatment of IPF and differences in this safety and efficacy comprehensively.

Methods: The PubMed, EMbase, CENTRAL and MEDLINE were retrieved to find out the RCTs of drugs in the treatment of IPF.

The rs2736100 (A > C) polymorphism of the second intron of Telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) has been confirmed to be closely associated with the risk of Lung cancer (LC), but there is still no unified conclusion on the results of its association with LC. This study included Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) and case-control studies reported so far on this association between TERT rs2736100 polymorphism and LC to clarify such a correlation with LC and the differences in it between different ethnicities and different types of LC. Relevant literatures published before May 7, 2022 on 'TERT rs2736100 polymorphism and LC susceptibility' in PubMed, EMbase, CENTRAL, MEDLINE databases were searched through the Internet, and data were extracted.

Background: At present, apart from lung transplantation, no drugs can effectively treat idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Therefore, it is imperative to explore new drugs to control or treat it. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) injections have been widely used in the field of IPF, but there is no comparison of their efficacy in the assisted improvement of IPF.

Background: To explore the association between Angiotensin Converting Enzyme (ACE) insert(I)/defect(D) gene polymorphism and the susceptibility to idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).

Methods: Searching PubMed, EMbase, CENTRAL, MEDLINE, CBM, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, WanFang Database and VIP Chinese Science database through a computer and collect the literature from China and foreign countries published before January 22, 2022. Screen the literatures and extract data such as first author, year of publication, diagnostic criteria and gene frequency, and draw a funnel chart and perform Begg's Test and Egger's test to evaluate publication bias.

Isoliquiritigenin (ISL) possesses a wide variety of pharmacological properties, however, its poor solubility and oral bioavailability pose a significant barrier to its application. In present studies, the ISL inclusion complex was prepared with sulfobutyl ether-β-cyclodextrin (SBE-β-CD). The physicochemical characterizations of ISL-SBE-β-CD were performed with Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and X-ray powder diffraction (XRD).

Article Synopsis
  • Two series of pyrrole derivatives were synthesized and tested for their ability to inhibit the enzyme tyrosinase, which is important in melanin production.
  • Among the compounds, A12 showed the strongest inhibitory effect, being approximately 30 times more effective than the standard inhibitor, kojic acid.
  • The study found that A12 acts as a reversible and mixed-type inhibitor and effectively reduced tyrosinase activity in B16 melanoma cells, suggesting potential for further development as a lead compound for new inhibitors.

A series of benzylidene analogs of oleanolic acid were synthesized and assessed for their -glucosidase and -amylase inhibitory activities. The results presented that all synthesized analogs exhibited excellent-to-moderate inhibitory effects on -glucosidase and -amylase. Analog showed the highest -glucosidase inhibition (IC: 0.

Background: At present, there was no evidence that any drugs other than lung transplantation can effectively treat Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF). Ligusticum wallichii, or Chinese name Chuan xiong has been widely used in different fibrosis fields. Our aim is to use network pharmacology and molecular docking to explore the pharmacological mechanism of the Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) Ligusticum wallichii to improve IPF.

MUC5B promoter rs35705950 T/G gene polymorphism has been associated with the risk of IPF, but the influence of this relationship varies among different populations. In the past 2 years, there were new clinical studies with different results, but none of them reached unified conclusions. Therefore, this study further included the latest case-control studies, integrated their results and carried out meta-analysis on them to draw reliable conclusions.

Article Synopsis
  • COVID-19 remains a significant global health issue, and while there are no specific treatments, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has been evaluated for its potential effectiveness and safety in assisting conventional treatments for mild to moderate cases.
  • A comprehensive analysis of 15 studies, including both randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and retrospective cohort studies, demonstrated that TCM improved clinical effective rates and alleviated symptoms such as fever, cough, and fatigue in COVID-19 patients.
  • Specific TCM formulations like Toujie Quwen, Shufeng Jiedu, and Lianhua Qingwen showed the most promising results, with overall safety assessments indicating no significant adverse effects compared to conventional treatments.
