Background: The structure of proanthocyanidins (PC) contains a large number of active phenolic hydroxyl groups, which makes it have strong antioxidant capacity. This study investigated the structural and functional properties of ovalbumin (OVA) modified by its interaction with PC.
Results: It was found that on increasing the concentration ratio of PC to OVA from 10:1 to 40:1, the free amino and total sulfhydryl contents of OVA decreased from 470.
The bioactivity and gastrointestinal stability of epicatechin gallate (ECG) may be affected by processing conditions. Results showed that the antioxidant ability and inhibitory activity on xanthine oxidase (XO) of ECG were higher at low pH values. Appropriate microwave and heating treatments improved the antioxidant (the scavenging rate increased from 71.

Design: A cross-sectional study.
Methods: A group of T2DM patients was recruited from a tertiary hospital affiliated with a university in Wuhu City, Anhui Province from May to October 2021 by convenient sampling.
This study aimed to explore the impacts of gallic acid (GA)/protocatechuic acid (PA) on the structural and functional characteristics of whey proteins (WP) through covalent binding. To this purpose, the covalent complexes of WP-PA and WP-GA at different concentration gradients were prepared by the alkaline method. SDS-PAGE indicated that PA/GA was cross-linked by covalent bonds.

However, acquired resistance is an inevitable clinical challenge. Although placenta-specific 8 (PLAC8) has been proven to serve an important role in tumor progression and resistance, its effect in AZD9291 resistance in NSCLC remains largely unknown.

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are a novel type of endogenous RNAs and increasing evidence have uncovered the important role of circRNA in tumor progression; however, the function of circRNAs in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remains largely unclear. In the present study, it was demonstrated that the expression level of hsa_circ_0033155 was significantly downregulated in NSCLC tissue and the expression of hsa_circ_0033155 correlated with lymphatic metastasis. In order to further investigate the possible role of hsa_circ_0033155 in NSCLC progression, circRNA was overexpressed in NSCLC cells and it was observed that the overexpression of hsa_circ_0033155 significantly decreased cell proliferation, colony formation and migration, and elevated the level of phosphatase and tensin homolog deleted on chromosome 10, a tumor suppressor in many types of tumor.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFlue gas desulfurization (FGD) wastewater treatment by conventional neutralization, chemical precipitation and coagulation process removes most suspended solids and heavy metals, and provides an effluent rich in calcium, alkalinity and chloride, which obstructs its reclamation and reuse but is in favor of phosphorus (P) precipitation. The goals of this study were to investigate feasibility of reusing FGD effluent as a calcium source for P removal from P-rich wastewater. Results revealed that increasing the volumetric ratio between FGD effluent and P-rich wastewater achieved higher pH value and Ca/P ratio, and thus enhanced P removal efficiency to 94.
