The green sea turtle () is the only sea turtle species that breeds in China, and the largest remaining nesting grounds for green sea turtles in Chinese waters is found on the Qilianyu atoll of the Xisha Islands. Nesting site selection is particularly important for egg survival, and understanding the microhabitat characteristics of green sea turtle nesting sites is crucial for delineating priority conservation areas for nesting grounds. Background/aim: Preclinical studies were undertaken to investigate whether eribulin's known cytotoxic antimitotic effects are characterized by immunogenic cell death (ICD) as assessed by three established ICD biomarkers: extracellular released ATP, released HMGB1 and cell surface calreticulin.

Materials And Methods: Using BT-549, Hs578T and MCF-7 breast cancer cell lines, antiproliferative IC's of eribulin, five other microtubule targeting agents (MTAs; ER-076349, vinblastine, vinorelbine, paclitaxel, docetaxel) and three DNA damaging agents (DDAs; doxorubicin, cisplatin, oxaliplatin) were determined.

Results: Treatment of cells with 10×IC concentrations of all drugs in serum-free media resulted in time-dependent induction of cytotoxicity over DMSO controls.

Certain immune-checkpoint inhibitors have a narrow therapeutic window (TW) as cancer therapeutics, and engineered dual-/multi-targeting agents could potentially widen the TW to bring true clinical benefits. We report a new rationally-designed bispecific-antibody (BsAb), HX009, simultaneously targeting PD1 and CD47 to improve both the efficacy and safety over the respective single-targeting agents by grafting the extracellular domain of SIRPα onto the parental anti-PD1-monoclonal antibody, HX008. This resulted in an IgG4-based "2 × 2" symmetric structure but with an intentionally-reduced CD47-binding affinity, suggesting a novel candidate cancer immunotherapy.

Uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPECs) is a leading cause for urinary tract infections (UTI), accounting for 70-90 % of community or hospital-acquired bacterial infections owing to high recurrence, imprecision in diagnosis and management, and increasing prevalence of antibiotic resistance. Current methods for clinical UPECs detection still rely on labor-intensive urine cultures that impede rapid and accurate diagnosis for timely UTI therapeutic management.
