Objective: Longitudinal data from Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) are increasingly utilized to construct predictive models for various clinical tasks, offering enhanced insights into patient health. However, significant discrepancies exist in preprocessing the irregular and intricate EMR data across studies due to the absence of universally accepted tools and standardization methods. This study introduces the Electronic Medical Record Longitudinal Irregular Data Preprocessing (EMR-LIP) framework, a lightweight approach for optimizing the preprocessing of longitudinal, irregular EMR data, aiming to enhance research efficiency, consistency, reproducibility, and comparability.

LaMoO is acknowledged as an exceptional oxide ion conductor. It undergoes a reversible phase transition around 580 °C from the nonconductive low-temperature monoclinic α-LaMoO phase to the highly conductive high-temperature cubic β-LaMoO phase. In addition, LaMoO demonstrates complex chemistry under reducing conditions.

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), characterized by a dense extracellular matrix (ECM), presents significant therapeutic challenges due to its poor prognosis and high resistance to chemotherapy. Current chemodrugs and diagnostic agents largely fail to cross the barrier posed by the ECM, which severely limits the PDAC theranostics. This study introduces a novel theranostic strategy using thioether-hybridized hollow mesoporous organosilica nanoparticles (dsMNs) for the co-delivery of copper (Cu) and disulfiram (DSF), aiming to induce cuproptosis in PDAC cells.

Background: The efficacy and safety of bictegravir/emtricitabine/tenofovir alafenamide (BIC/FTC/TAF) have been demonstrated in treatment-naive clinical trials. However, real-world evidence for this regimen in late-presenting patients with HIV-1 (PWH) is lacking. We investigated the virologic and safety outcomes of BIC/FTC/TAF in late-presenting PWH.

Skeletal editing offers a unique route to assemble complex architectures from simple feedstocks that are otherwise difficult to obtain. However, the asymmetric version of skeletal editing has not been widely studied. Herein, we present a modular rhodium/boron asymmetric catalytic system that enables ring-expansion of phenols with cyclopropenes to synthesize highly functionalized cycloheptadienones in excellent chemo- and regioselectivities.

The hexagonal perovskite derivatives BaM'M″O featuring a hybrid structure composed of 9R hexagonal perovskite and palmierite structure motifs exhibit significant oxide ionic conductivity due to the highly disordered oxide-ion and M-cation sublattices. Herein, we report the structure and electrical properties of the perovskite BaTiWO. Three-dimensional (3D) electron diffraction (ED), neutron powder diffraction (NPD), and neutron pair distribution functions (nPDF) revealed a 9R hexagonal perovskite structure for BaTiWO with fully occupied central M2 sites, partially occupied outer M1 sites, and oxygen-deficient cubic c-BaO sublayers.

The growth and accumulation of active ingredients of Angelica sinensis were affected by rhizosphere soil microbial communities and soil environmental factors. However, the correlationship between growth and active ingredients and soil biotic and abiotic factors is still unclear. This study explored rhizosphere soil microbial community structures, soil physicochemical properties, enzyme activities, and their effects on the growth and active ingredient contents of A.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study examined how low-protein diets and synthetic amino acid supplements affect laying hens' performance, gut health, and nitrogen waste, using 288 hens divided into three groups over 12 weeks.
  • - The group with crystal amino acid supplements (LCP-CAA) had better feed conversion ratios compared to the control, while the microencapsulated amino acids (LCP-MAA) showed improved absorption of various amino acids over time.
  • - Results indicated that low-protein diets supplemented with microencapsulated amino acids enhanced intestinal barrier function and digestive enzyme secretion, resulting in better protein utilization and reduced nitrogen waste.

Chemotherapy (CT) can significantly inhibit tumor growth, metastasis, and recurrence during cancer therapy. People have widely used platinum drugs in cancer treatment. However, as most chemotherapeutic drugs, platinum drugs still have shortcomings such as poor solubility, low cell uptake, nonspecific distribution, multidrug resistance, and adverse side effects.

Article Synopsis
  • Recent advancements in hot-electron photodetectors (HE PDs) faced performance issues due to single-junction setups and thick absorbable films.
  • This work introduces a five-layer planar design with triple junctions, featuring an ultrathin platinum layer that achieves strong optical absorption across a wide wavelength range (900 nm to 1700 nm).
  • The study highlights the effective light-trapping and energy deposition facilitated by this design, resulting in high responsivity (up to 8.51 mA/W at 900 nm) and consistent performance across various angles and light polarizations.

Hexokinase is a crucial diagnostic reagent in blood glucose testing, which has high requirements for the enzyme activity and thermal stability. The hexokinases in China mainly rely on imports and are primarily sourced from yeast, with high costs and poor thermal stability, which limit the development of blood glucose diagnostic reagents. Therefore, there is an urgent need for the efficient expression of highly active and thermally stable hexokinases.

Five halophilic archaeal strains, XH8T, CK5-1T, GDY1T, HW8-1T, and XH21T, were isolated from commercial coarse salt produced in different regions of China. Their 16S rRNA and rpoB' gene sequences indicated that four of the strains (CK5-1T, GDY1T, HW8-1T, and XH21T) represent distinct species within the genus Haloplanus (family Haloferacaceae), while strain XH8T represents a novel genus within the same family. These assignments were supported by phylogenetic and phylogenomic analyses, which showed that strains CK5-1T, GDY1T, HW8-1T, and XH21T cluster with the current species of the genus Haloplanus, while strain XH8T forms a separate branch from the genus Haloplanus.
